Tire & Wheel Specifications:
The only tires allowed are HPI tire part #4793 "front" and #4797 "rear", using stock tire inserts
provided with tire and any HPI Vintage wheels designed to fit these tires. All other tires and/or
part numbers are illegal. Wheels and tires designated as "front" must be used as front
tires/wheels, "rear" wheels/tires must used as rears.

These same foams can be lightened, and the tires can be shaved down to lose 10+ grams ... You've been in the game long enough to know....lol...

So assuming modifications are allowed. For the foam I see two ways of doing this.

1. the foam always seems to be a little wider in diameter then needed so I would cut it and trim a little extra so it has a slightly smaller diameter.

2. The other is it also seems to wide so I could see taking a millimeter off.

For the tires I don't see a way to shave them down unless you are grinding tread off, or getting away part of the bead on the inside.

Modifications to the foam, the wheel, and the tire aren't allowed. Worry about stuff that matters.

You don't learn if you don't ask questions. But if we take a look at the rules seems like I couldn't modify the tire but nothing about the inserts.

Grinding of tire tread is NOT permitted. Sanding of mold seam to remove seam is allowed. HPI
Vintage Slicks and HPI Vintage Performance Tires are not allowed. Tire traction compounds are
at the discretion of the track. No other altering, changing or softening of the tire is allowed. Tires
may not be belted or changed to prevent "ballooning". All decisions of the race promoter or track
owner are final. No "double stuffing" of foam inserts allowed—only single stock vintage tire
inserts are allowed

MOST IMPORTANTLY: If it's not in the rules, and does not encompass the spirit of
slower,
controlled racing with realistic looking cars, consider it illegal. This is called the "Spirit of
VTA" Rule.

I haven't thought about it but I have a little scale I should weigh the wheels I use and see if there is a better option.
ROAR and the USVTA Rule state the ready to race can not be less than 1,450 grams.

Then I guess you can only lighten the drivetrain and run worn tires that have lost a few grams. Hopefully they will not ban the worn tires...

depends on my determination to win...lol...no seriously with the Motiv, or R1 8.4v fan my temps stay about 120 or under....thats with most motors Ive run....

I have had some reach 150 ish at times, but that was due to extreme concern for the "W"
