Here's the Turnigy 5000 typed list of rules:

1. All submissions must include the following in one take with no editing:
   • An overview of the setup
   • Confirmation of battery(s) used.
   • The high speed pass
   • Top speed reading measured using a Quanum GPS Logger V2 (and is subject to further review).
   • * The camera must be focused on the car at all times.
2. Unlimited Class - Any sized vehicle and any power system is acceptable. However, the vehicle must be sufficiently small to be accepted as a 'model car'. That means it can't be a full size electric car! Decision is at the judges discretion.
3. 2-Cell Class - Same as unlimited, except capped at a 2-cell (7.4V) power setup. If multiple packs are used, a demonstration proving it is a 2-cell setup is required in the entry video.
4. EPIC FAIL - Winners are determined on many factors... but mainly what the judges find the funniest (bring the lolz). Winners will be announced weekly.
5. The vehicle must be radio controlled
6. The vehicle must come to a controlled stop (no crashing out)
7. The vehicle may use any size of electric motor(s)
8. The vehicle must be propelled by the use of it's own wheels (not a propeller/fan/rocket).
9. The car must be powered by the batteries alone.
10. Entries going down a hill or slope will not be accepted.
11. The winner of Unlimited class will win US$3000 in cash. If their top speed is faster than the current Guinness World Record for 'FASTEST BATTERY POWERED REMOTE-CONTROLLED MODEL CAR (RC)' which is 260.32 km/h (161.76 mph) they will win an additional US$2000.
12. Precautions must be taken at all times during an attempt to ensure the safety of all people, animals and property. Entries which are not undertaken in a safe matter will not be accepted.
13. Rules are subject to change at any time.
14. The judges decision is final.
15. To encourage competition we have not and will not announce the closing date ahead of time. Get your entries in now!

I will go for the 2 Cell competition since the world record will cost too much and have limited experience in electric off road racing.

I'm think of using a 2,5t brushless setup, but which 1/10 scale body will be the best?

Will a F1 style racer be any good?

I think your best bet for 1/10 scale body is the PROTOform P905B High Downforce Light-Weight Body.

You don need much downforce for high speed running, if anything. You want weight to keep it planted and stable.

Having been involved in a few of the "Speed Runs" and watching Nic Case run some of his Fastest runs -- I can say w/o a doubt - you DO NOT want that body, that body will be airborn before you hit 100 mph as pictured. If/when you want TOP Speed, look to what kind of aero is used at a place like the Bonneville Salt Flats - Not at LeMans .

I also believe that stability overule downforce since the run will be done over a straight section. Too much downforce will only decrease the top speed.

The tyres also needs to be a thin as possible to decrease the rolling resistance and that's probably why the Nissan Electric only have one front wheel...

Maybe use a 550 size motor with 4t or 3,5t and change the gearing for max revs and timing advance.

Interesting that you think that is one front wheel, the car may be narrow at the front, but it's not that narrow.

This is what I could find for the current fastest rc car. Almost 162mph, custom body, custom modified Schumacher touring car chassis, a lot of batteries and a fast motor.
