What is the voltage rating of the fan? Why not wire it to either the ESC or the battery?

Snowy.

I thought it would be easier if I just buy a converter and plug it in my extra channels in my rx

I doubt anyone makes one as it's intended to be plugged into the ESC. You could either cut off the plug and splice in a RX cable or make your own adapter out of something like this:

Cut plug off and solder on the wires and plug off a dead servo or esc.

That fan looks like a esc fan designed for esc, like the hobbywing. It's best if you just pick up another fan with longer connection like a wtf or yeah racing tornado.

ESC fans don't make good motor fans....

Check out the WTF fans www.rcspeedsecrets.com

OR get a crimper and a pack of plugs and make your own...
