Okay. I have done this before, and I will tell you; I would rather be horse whipped than ever do it again! A friend of mine just received his new HPI X Patterns and wheels, and he came to me for advice.

I know, some say; only glue the tires at 4 points on each side, and some say; run glue all the way around which is what I have done. I have not had any problem keeping the tires mounted - just getting the seating correct on the rim. I am still relatively new in the hobby, and I want to become proficient at this little task. Ha!

Any advice is greatly appreciated...... Thanks!

wrap the tire with a rubber band, not to tight, just right

so the tire will be even on the rim

place the band in the middle.

then start at the four corners

let it dry then do the other sides and after that apply on all areas

Thanks! So; after putting the rubber band on, Just let the glue run around the outside (not lifting the tire)? If that's it; where you don't lift tire to get the glue under, and between - that's seems a whole lot easier.

its still better if you lift up the lip of the tire and apply the CA. start at 4 points and let it dry then apply on the rest of the area.

your work will be easier if you have the

TAMIYA TIRE CEMENTING HELPER


but I'd rather do it with the rubbestyle, hehehehehehe more personality!!!!

The rubber band trick works.

Something else that works too, and I think works better, is black electrical tape. . .

I run the thin CA around the bead (peel back and apply a little and work all the way around) and then wrap a couple of layers of black electrical tape all the way around the tire. As it sits it shrinks slightly and really compresses the tire into the bead so it gets a really good contact patch and a good glue seam.

I've also found that electrical tape works better than rubber bands. Makes a tighter bond.

I used to race with a guy that called himself "Boomer" when Showtime raceway was open in Riverside CA.

Everyone;
Electrical REALLY works much better than rubber bands. When gluing use enough put 4-8 drops in the bead then wrap firmly with electrical tape. The CA will be spread around by the wraping of the tape. Let dry until you can't smell the CA anymore.

For off-road tires, an old tire with the sidewalls cut off works really good for holding the bead tight when gluing.

I hated the gluing fixtures. Threw mine in the trash. Just keep a bottle of DeBonder handy.
