No one complained about speed or racing. It was very good I think this is a very positive step towards the future. Guys on the fence about it need to try it ...

I'm sure nothing in stone right now but it's lookin like a great first step towards repairing a prestigious class of rc

When the rules are changed that dramatically, you're not repairing a class, you're killing it and making a new class.

Ken you'd rather have 12 entries with 5 guys laps ahead off their seven?

There were a few of the top guys of class here and I think it was inspired
Especially with old school local driver almost setting tq twice (dump)

no talk of class bent killed whatsoever
Some great racing / qualifying

Ill say this.

As much as I loved open modified and going super fast its just not practical for the masses of r/c drivers. You have to change with the times and technology to keep everything in check. Modified was broken at least 6 years ago, probably more, and its good we are trying to do something different to keep it alive and well. My guess is at the halloween race youll likely see some very close racing and 99% of the cars finish, at least not broken, not sure about dumping lol. If something was not done you are just going down the same path as open GP7 slotcars and how many people are racing those world wide? Maybe 50 if you are lucky. Not seeing there needs to be a change for the good of racing is just being selfish. 6.5 does not have to be the ultimate answer but its a start.

For all intents I would stay with Open ESC, otherwise you create battery and motor wars, boost is also more efficient...

Themelis was using a low capacity batteries in qualifiers and dumped on the last 2 laps,6000 I think....that didn't happen in the main when he used a higher capacity one.
Adding my voice to trotta....after the warm up racing at 360 with top drivers in the country participating, 6.5 is fast enough for 90% of the racers out there without worries about battery or motor war....
I saw first hand a lot of drivers including my self that wont get into full out mod but can do the 6.5

Themelis proofed that with pure driving skill that almost tqd the race twice if it wasn't for the reason stated above.

U need to work on ur driving skill and setup more than any motor or battery in that class

Feedback from the people who ran it has been almost all positive, hopefully more people are willing to give it a shot now!

but I think the class was a 100% success. I didn't hear anything negative from anyone all 3 days I was at 360.. matter of fact I saw 3 or 4 guys who didn't run the 6.5 class ordering motors for the class because it looked like to much fun. my car was off and I sucked all weekend but it wasn't a power thing. Hebert, Lia, Cyrul, Hilliar, ect didn't outpower me

Not saying it isn't for the better, but Ken is right. We basically killed open mod and made another spec class. So in reality we have, 17.5, 13.5, 6.5, and open mod now, if you wanted to push it. I still think if you eliminated 13.5 and made it either 10.5 or 6.5 it would be a better "stepping stone" to full open mod.

Wrong, we killed open mod. Still have 3 classes.

Also you seem to be missing the point, as so many people in this thread have pointed out open mod is not drivable by the great majority of the RC population, and lets be honest, that includes you and I both.

If the point is more participation then killing open mod makes sense, not killing 13.5 and adding ANOTHER ruleset.

It worries me that IIC has changed to 6.5t blinky and we have only seen one additional entry (that I can tell, at least.) Where are the hordes who were clamoring for change?
