After sleeping on it, here's my attempt to predict the future if 1/12 went to 2S.

HOORAY!
* Dumping is back!
* No more boosters!

OH NOES!
* I dumped my battery one time and it lost 200mah of capacity!
* My new packs have the best capacity in the first 4 runs. I'm gonna need some new packs every big race!
* What? You mean not all cells are equal? Some have better capacity than others? No way only team drivers would get those, though, these companies are all super honest and fair!
* Cells matched on capacity give slightly longer run times? Nobody will do that, matching died with NiMH.
* This is actually a little faster than 1S mod. Good thing I'm not human!
* What do you mean Company Y's 9.5 is faster and more efficient than Company X's 10.5? But I'm sponsored by Company X!
* What do you mean this high efficiency servo uses 200mah less in a simulation of an 8 minute race? It costs HOW MUCH?!
* Company X has a new blinky ESC profile built for efficiency. I'm sponsored by Company Y, but they tell me their version will Be Here in Two WeeksŪ.
* I was surprised to learn that you can make a super efficient 9.5 by using extra thick wire. And it's really really fast!
* I don't need new LiPos all the time, I'm not that serious about racing. I just dump them every time. It's a good thing I always take my battery out of the car to charge it in a LiPo sack. I'm super safe.

Voltage is inverse to amp draw v = i * r

I'm happy to be proven wrong, like I said before I'm no electronics expert.
I'm just repeating stuff that was discussed between very well respected racers and organisers at the recent worlds. So basically people who should know what they are talking about, and are willing to put the theory to the test. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Should add the point there was little enthusiasm for going to motor limits and blinky modes as well... it's then just another stock class, with all of the associated issues with that.

Control tyres was another big discussion as already mentioned, interesting to see where it leads.

I am not going to lie - if we went to 2s 1/12, I know I would try it out with a 3.5t...just to see how long I could hang on for.

I ran the "spec" purple ring tires with 6.5 Blinky and thought it was really good At our track , NORCAR, with the current layout it went 7.9 upfront and finished 8.0 The tires never gave out and were very consistent the entire run.

One option that never came up perhaps because it's stupid. Leave tire/motor open and revert back to Nimh cells. Most cars still work with them. You get a voltage boost and you are back to a limited battery capacity with no worries of a fire when the battery dumps hard. It all comes back to technology advances removed the limits of mod racing, so put one technology limit back into the ring. I'll shut up now.

Given a fixed resistance, increasing the voltage will increase the current draw.
