Well the rain finally slowed donw here and gave me some time to drive, drift and i was having problems with the temps getting really hot. I am running a Mamba max brushless 5700kv in my car with 87 or 88 spur with a 17t pinion. The spur is neon yellow if that helps and i know theres 2. Didn't get through a full pack before it got too hot. Any suggestions on gearing it. I have tried 18t pinion and thats didnt work the settings on my esc are stock settings. I just dont wanna keep buy pinions and find out its the wrong one. Some info would be great. I have read the gearing on castles website but thats is a guideline more than anything. HELP PLEASE!

What ratio are you using though mate, and what chassis is it? Im currently running a 4600 with an 8.35 ratio and PE (similar to abs) tyres. Mine gets rather hawt aswell. But here are my suggestion.

Motor timing on low or lowest, gives you a bit more runtime aswell.

Try lowering your punch control aswell, this might help in the fight against heat.

Try a higher ratio gear combo. If you can go any higher that is.

I strongly recommend you invest in a fan for the motor, but also for the esc. it makes a hell of a difference temp wise

ok tried the car with the new gearing i am running now which is 88/16 *1.83 for a fd of 10.065 and all the esc settings lowered to the lowest and the esc , motor, and battery fried. The battery expanded, the motor just quit, and the esc wires melted. I dont know what else to do. I took the motor out before i did anything and the car rolled freely nothing was binding. Now what? I have tried everything anyone has thrown at me and nothing has worked yet. suggestions again. Thanx

Pinion is about all i can change. The spur i am limited to. comments, suggestions, anything

toe in is when the front of your wheels point toward the center. and toe out is just the opposite. in cases of grip, the purpose of having toe in is to have your car harder to turn in. and toe out will help your car turn in. so depending on your car's settings, it all depends on you and how you drive. try zeroing the car out and she how it feels first. then if you feel like you need to swing the car more try toe out and vise versa. i hope i did you some good

Ya an FD of 10 is pretty high. You should probably have it around the 7.0-8.5 region. Make sure you dispose of those batts properly, if they were expanding then they could leak. Also, what batts were you using? Your typical stick pack can't handle the loads a brushless setup will pull, the conectors tend to fail. Also stick packs can't be balanced and if one cell is significantly lower in charge than the others it will fry badly by over discharging when the pack still seems to have juice left in it. Don't run the car till it can't move anymore, stop when it starts to feel soft, and give plenty of cooling time between runs.
