whats the drift thread doin on page 3! right, so as im sure a few of our most hardcore drift thread readers gathered ive got a 9 turn and it loves to eat brushes so what im trying now is, ive ripped all of the brushes out of my old dead stockers with laydowns in taken a dremel to the brushes and shaped them like stand ups i was gonna test them today but its raining but i did stick a 21 pinion on and drifted it in the house from room to room and it ran perfect and the brushes didnt wear at all after i had run a pack of 3700's though it ive made about 15 pairs of standups as this rate ill never get through them HURRAY!!!!!!!!

Word of advice from someone who's run the BL for a while...

Have a long think about getting a GTB witha 6.5 motor. Depending on what you're drifting on, the 5.5 is already waaaaaaay too much power. On ABS the car starts to really eat up the abs tires. Mine started getting hot and burning on the surface.

They really stink.. but the upside is that they get a smooth surface! ..

But in all seriousness, the GTB 5.5 can be a handful.. you never get above 1/4 throttle on ABS and about 1/2 throttle on hard rubber drift tires..

I've tried drifting with a 4.5 and it waan't much fun... granted the car setup wasn't mine, but it required a deft touch.

It depends really if you just want to drift for fun like me and me mate who both use cheap TC3's. But if i was going to do it in competitions etc id go for a more modern car like a Pro 4 hara, Evo 4MS or something like that. Parts is another thing you have to consider are they easy to get where you are?

yea and get the lowest wind motor you can get your hands on i think it would be best to start with a 27 turn until you get used to drifting and still after a few months it can still go wrong

wow my 1,000th post!!!!!

yeah, i would just make my triger to where when i pull it back it would only be 1/2 throtle

im getting one so i can smoke my step-dads E-MAXX, b/c it goes like 40

whats wrong with belts?

i have had NO problems with my XXX-S (besides that fact that my GF broke my new chasis in the first 5 mins) unlike my step-dad, who has had crap in his shaft spinny place (very tecnial terms, might have to wip out the dictonary)

i am really tempted with the whole brushless systems ive seen a guy at out club run the 5.5 in his 1/12 car and it was sweet. the only thing putting me off a bl system for the drifter is the fact that i dont really use it that much i only drift once or twice a week for about 2 hours which seems a bit silly to me spending 200+ which is worth more than the entire set up if it was legal out our club and the sw series i race in then id buy one and maybe use it in both cars maybe once they become more main stream and cheaper to buy ill make the move
