Default Tamiya TB-Evolution III

The EVO-III thread is going to start sooner or later...so it might as well be now...since the car is due for release in a couple of months. Can't wait to get my hands on one...

Does anyone know if Tamiya have done anything to improve the spur gear access? I heared the evo III will use regular spur gears, that's a start!

The Evo3 will use a spur gear adapter so you can use other company's gears. I don't see a point in this since the 88 hardened Tamiya is not that expensive and very good as well. Anyways, by eliminating the TGR gearcases and the aluminum bulkheads, the spur gear should be easily accessed by removing 6-8 screws like the original TB01.

Removing the aluminum bulkheads and redesigning and lightening other parts resulted in 40gr. less weight. Narrower chassis than the TC3... The EVOIII is going to be Fast!!!!!!!

TC3 in graphite chassis. You should get the parts from Square for changing into TC3 Steering post.

New design based on TB01 gearboxes which are much freer/faster than TGR gearboxes.

i believe he want to use the WHOLE TC3 steering system... it doesnt flex like the separate plastic ones all tamiyas have...and I has very good ackerman which you can adjust simply. Several other High end cars use the TC3 steering system...like the Alex Racing Barracuda can be adjusted to it...I think I saw it on a Pro 3 once as well.

The new Evo-III uses an aluminum steering set like the 414m2's

I wish they just use the same system as 414M2 because of the slop.

Barracuda has a lot of slop problem and I switched to TC3 Steering system. First you need to order throught Futaba Sangyo in Japan for the TC3 steering system for Barracuda. Then use all the hardware of TC3 or get the OVA TC3 Aluminium Steering. But one thing that you have to pay attention to, you need to modify the hole for the steering knuckle. You need to drill an extra hole in front of the original knuckle. This will give you the full travel distance of the steering. If you use the original setting, you cannot get the full distance. Good example is at K-model barracuda

I saw the RC World December Edition.

For the change of the Spur Gear, you have to take out the rear diff cover, then take out the shaft from the rear and finally lift the upperdeck and remove the Spur Gear. This time, they will give you the adapter right away. You can also use the A-arm from TRF414M2.

They adopt similar steering system as TRF414M. This should elimnate some of the slop of the car. They have a graphite plate at the bottom of the Steering post.
