You should be good. Post a picture. That will help alot. The light weight suspension gives the car more steering and more grip. Makes the car feel more responsive.

Get the TB-02 aluminum motor mount. I've been told that the plastic one may warp.

It won't fit, eIII's plate is shorter than TB02/TA05/EvoIV/Evo5.

Just go and buy the TA05 hopup plate, drop-in fit for e5.

if you are using front one-way try using the evo-4 aluminum one-way ring gear it will solve your problems regarding stripped gears and please checked also your gears as far as i know they also shim it properly

are you still using original red centre shaft?

it is too short, you should change to the HopUp option EvoIII lightweight shaft
or TB02 shaft, both is 2mm longer. Or best is TechRacing 3-piece shaft.

Longer shaft will reduce bevel stripping as it supports the bevel pinion better.

(info from this forum...)
The grey EVO III lightweight shaft is not the best one to use - you may still experience problems (I did). The best shaft to use is the blue one as it has fatter bevel ends and is 4mm longer then the original Evo III shaft and 2mm longer then the gery light weight one. Part # 49369 (how many revisions do Tamiya need? 4mm is not excatly a small error )

And as buboy28 said get the alloy - its a must

Talk about resurrecting an old thread.
Just about to buy the Evo IV Aluminum ring gear to get my evo going again and hopefully cure the one way problem. Then I need a new shell and get down a proper setup.

After looking at the Evolution IV manual and examining my Evo III, I think the propeller shaft and cups may be interchangeable onto the Evo III, all thats needed is to exchange the motor mount bearing for the transmission case one and vice versa, use the Evo IV bevel gears and wala.

Default resurrecting my EVO-III (alas poor evo i knew you well)

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I just got back into rc and I pulled my old EVO-III surikarn limited edition off the shelf. Still runs fast , but still has the same problem i always had - pull the trigger and it takes off, but it sounds awful like the diffs are chewing themselves apart. I am afraid to take it apart, but I will, just don't want to look at what has happened to the gears. Is there somewhere I can buy new diff assemblies for the Evo-III, tower doesn't seem to have any and I can't find them at Stormer Hobbies. I KNOW I'm gonna need them, do the diff assemblies from the EVO-IV and V fit into it??? This car is great and needs help, i can't just let it sit around, its fast and furious. I have the one way diff inthe front and think I want to get rid of that. Any suggestions would be helpful

Thanks,
Rich
