thanks Larry.

but d'oh!! just realised that's the Hard Plastic bit, right?
And someone just mentioned the Surikarn one is different - 3mm chassis.

Was really after the sponge bit... 6275051 ?

Anyone got the part number for Surikarn stickers?

(My manual has lost the parts list insert )

1424303 - Evo III Sticker

9495358 - Sticker

Those are the two #'s in my manual....I'm guessing "sticker" is the infamous "Rotating Parts" sticker and the "Evo III" sticker is what you want

Makes no difference. The old Evo3 bumper will still fit on the 3mm chassis of the Evo3 SE, at least mine does anyway :P

If you're not sure of the part number for any item just describe it to Nao at R10 and he will do his best to find out for you. They are pretty helpful.

Guys, did you see AdrianM posting this message at the TRF415 thread?

"............ I was talking to Surikarn at the pre worlds and he said that Tamiya will be running a new car at the Worlds. The Evolution 4 Pro.................."

When Surikarn is saying this I think itīs sure Tamiya really will be using the EVO4 at the worlds. But itīs exactly as I thought for myself. Maybe the 415 is the better car for carpet and maybe the EVO is better for asphalt tracks. But maybe the EVO4 is a updated EVO3 with better drivetrain and the 415 suspension.

What do you think?

Thanks Itchy... yea I haven't gone to compare the bumper
plastic parts between TBe3 & TBe3SL yet... but it was Daf who
mentioned the difference - and who'd know more??

Guess might have to make Nao do something to earn his 20% premium...

Thanks BK. Yep the TBe3SL came with 2 sheets of stickers btw.
1's the normal ones and 1 special Surikarn sheet.

Having fun yet with your red machine??

You're right

But I never would use this Tech racing shaft. Itīs way to heavy, costs more than itīs worth and it doesnīt help in any way to the onewaygear problem. Infact I know of enough people throwing this thing out of the car again.
Hmm, not good - I can't find any lightweight shafts on ebay now I missed my opportunity there

Maybe your still using the plastic gearbox. Itīs a good idea changing it for a new one as some of them arenīt very good. Maybe this helps.
To the square ones, do you mean? Where can I get them from?

Quote:
But if you donīt feel good with the EVO3 anymore why do you want buying another one?
Don't get me wrong, it is only the one-way problems that a troubling me - I really love the car apart from this one point. I'd meant that I'd by the EVO III from Mr Keß if the tech-racing shaft worked out.

I'll keep searching for a leightweight shaft

Cheers, Mark.

Did you try at the Friedel shop regarding the lightweight shaft? They should have lot of Tamiya parts.

In general I think the Square gearbox is much better but sometimes it helps just trying a new plastic one.

Sometimes there are some Square parts at Ebay. I just bought another set of garboxes for my 2nd EVO3 there .

yes i agree.
the 415 with it being wider with the d blocks front and back give it more stability but less grip.good for carpet but not ashpalt.
so maybe the evo4 will have d-blocks front and back but have a lower roll center?
thus increasing grip and stabillity.
also the evo4 looks as if it is stiferb due to the alumium bulheads but it looks as if the pic has the same gearbox housings as evo3 but in the [pic it has cut out sections to show new gears to stop from stripping.
it also looks like it comes with 3 piece prop.
its definetly top and bottom deck chassis its just shodows makes it look like a tubby!

That plus Tamiya seemed wasn't happy with the performance of the 415 at the preworlds....I guess they came to the track thinking that if the 414 succeeded, why wouldn't the 415 be? You guys ought to remember that the 415 has a similar layout as the MR4TC awhile back and Masami couldn't do anything in either of the worlds (I could be mistaken) as far as winning...other than podium finish yet the car rocks in japan (possibly on carpet tracks). I hope Tamiya finally recognizes that They're intended to stay with the shaft driven technology

I want that second one *drool*

fabolousRC: Agreed, Just cause its new doesn't mean its better. The 414 is better than most of the cars I see out there. I don't get why Tamiya discontinued it for that new 415...ITS HAS ALLUMINUM TURNBUCKLES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

tamiya just thought that it was a proven basis for the next belt driven project which it wasn't...if they want to get anything close to it, I would recommend tamiya copying either XXXS or KXOne because surikarn is a very capable driver so is everyone else in TRF either International, US or Europe (Reinhard). You must also remember that 415 is pretty heavy compared to 414M2...let alone the new lightweight bulkhead that came out at the same time as the SSG chassis. The reason why the TB EVO III and the 414x so successful was the because the chassisl was so balance on any surface plus the technology was so refined that Tamiya didn't really need to do much except for a few bugs on the III platform and a few pieces on the 414 (SSG chassis and LW bulkhead).

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a recall in RC world...especially in Japanese companies because of tooling cost. They knew the front gear box was a problem but they don't want to dig more money to retool its manufacturing process and elect to introduce all changes into another evolution aka EVO IV.

The good thing about this is that they finally recognise that their shaft driven car is actually a formidable weapon for TRF because as soon as TRF switches to 415 they made a few wins but the TB scored even more even beyond the discontinuation of the product. It was just like when Tamiya discontinued 414M2 and introduced EVO III you still see a lot of Tamiya racers used 414M2 winning all over the world before all of sudden and out of nowhere the EVO III started to scramble its competitior around and almost put them on shambles.

I wonder what would happen if they get Barry Baker to drive for TRF...hmmm...I heard he LOVES golf...so does the japanese people...that could be match made in heaven, don't you think?
