If it will last on foams with a oneway, then it won't have any problems with mod and a front diff!!
Sweet Jason, good work I hope that is the perminent fix for the Evo 3

Glad you figured it out. You shouldn't have to do Tamiya's work for them.
i dontthink he does anything!
i raced mod on carpet with no tansmission mods and havent had any trouble with the one way gear.
i also dont use any of the chassis braces as it is better without them

Well the RacingFactory has been working hard on their Evo3's, See the links below for Atomix and Black Knight Evo3 pics

Some of options used to enhance the cars,

Tech Racing: Turnbuckles, Bodyposts(YTBF)
Square: Heatsinks and Motor mounts
Team Bomber: Carbon center shaft
Tamiya TRF: Blue option parts

Both cars have been shimmed to perfection by Atomix, super smooth and reliable transmissions have been produced.

That's just great. The front oneway gears will last about 5 minutes off road. just enough for the main I guess.

Tamiya had a 4WD offroad ready for sale earlier this year, but they canceled the project, it was belt drive. The body was just like the one pictured.

I have been running mine in mod and only suffer an issue after a heavy crash. Simple fix...replace the damaged gears....

My car has now been shimmed, just like all shaft cars require...even the new HPI Pro4 requires shims to obtain the optimin mesh, not just to prevent damage, but the correct meshing of gears improves the efficiency. The above mention "FIX" is not needed in my opinion, shimming does the same thing and is simpler.

What does Surikarn do??? Shims and replaces damages gears as needed (and does not crash lol) ohhh and drives a belt car!

Back in june i think it was the Tamiya Japan team had red bevel gears for in the gearbox, they claimed they were the same as the other gears but they gave my mate one and he swore it was different, it slid onto the bearing instead of having to be pushed on. Rick

i wud rather tamiya make a off road version of the 415 then the evo3 as no stripping gears.
but the 415 has open gearboxes.
tamiya should make some competitive off roaders.

I talked to Surikarn in Noveber at the TCS worlds he said the only thing that he does is to do what you have been saying shim the bevel gears and stop the drive shaft moving forward.
Has any body been running the tech three piece shaft in there evos and does it fix the poblem? i tried to shim the gears after I installed it and all it did was to bound it up.
