I saw an interesting mod the other day....

Aparently, the rear diff ring gear is made of a harder material so I saw one guy experiment by drilling out the gear so that he could use it as a front one way ring gear.

TRF Racer, I only run Johson 540, but I run tamiya Stiff Springs (white) on front and Eagle Super Soft on the rear (Yellow). Bit extreme but it hooks in like magic. 70wt oil all round, shocks on the top hole on the front and bottom hole on the rear tower.

hope that helps!

Also a diff us a must

on more setup issues, I love my evo so much I'm about to pick up a Evo Surikan Edition this weekend for the outdoor track I run at.

Any setups for a Rebuildable Stock (27t) on a long fast track with a fairly fast infield? Its an asohalt track and I've already sort out tires, but shocks and gear ratios would be great!

Default Penguin Gear Adaptor

I recently bought a Penguin gear adaptor. Is this any good? Does it prevent the one way gear from stripping?

Thanks,

Default RSJ Raceways (formerly Venture Raceways)

For all the IL and WI racers Venture Raceways has been sold. The track will now be known as RSJ Raceways. The track will be closed until November 14 while it undergoes major remodeling. The track will reopen on November 14th with a grand opening race and lots of food.

From what Rick says and from the plans I saw this is going to be a very state of the art facility. Everything is being remodeled, the track, the pits, the hobby shop, etc.

There will be satellite tv and 3 32 inch monitors in the pit area showing movies, speed TV, the action on the track, or whatever else is on. There will also be a surround sound audio system on the track.

There will be On road racing on Wed. and Sat. nights and there will be indoor offroad (no dirt) racing on Sundays.

This should a great place when it is all finished. The web site is not finished yet by the web address is www.rsjraceways.com

I can't wait to see it when its done.

The Penguin back plate held up pretty well. It took a whole lot more HARDcrashes to get the gear to strip. Now, the reason it strips is because the shaft spins and strips out the inside of the small bevel gear, causing it to be out of round and in turn strips the big bevel gear. I'm ok with that, because it really took a beating before stripping.

Hi Hawker,

If you are talking about Meakin Park, you can try this setup on the surikarn.

Blue springs all round, 60wt oil all round.
Blue sways at rear, yellow at front.
Outer shock position on the front, middle at the rear.
Fast foams, 42 Rear, 45 front.
P2k2 70 spur, 31pinion.

Sorry is this sounds sketchy but its been a while and everything is coming off memory. but this should get you going.

Oh yeah... a front one way will get you ard faster at Meakin (but i still liked the ball diff)

Regards
Jeff
