Just break in the drivetrain, it becomes very smooth. Mine spins very smooth. It's not as free as my TC3 YET but the more I run it the smoother it will get , it is definitely much quieter than my TC3.

The tires we are using the rub on the ball stud are foams. TRC's, Jaco's. If you run rubber tires then don't worry about it, it's only if you run foams.

Is the clicking noise coming from the drivetrain or is it coming from the universals?

The clicking from the universals is pretty common with Tamiya kits as well as other kits. Usually happens when the steering is turned to the left or right.

Default Novak US Touring Car Championships and the EVO #

Not a bad first showing for the EVO 3...nice job in qual. Dave!

Modified Sedan Qual. standings after 3 rounds

1 JOSH CYRL 26/5:03.85 | >26/5:02.82
2 BARRY BAKER 26/5:07.18 | >26/5:03.68
3 PAUL LEMIEUX 26/5:10.60 | >26/5:03.72
4 DAVID JUN 26/5:09.15 | >26/5:05.89
5 DAVE VERA >26/5:07.59 | 26/5:10.86

On a personal note I had a chance to test today at Tamiya America. The stock set-up had a bit of a push in the morning, made two slight changes and the car was grand!

If the early signs are an indication...we have a winner. This thing is certainly faster off the corners than my 414M was and less nervous to boot!

(prompting rtypec to finish his EVO3 asap...eh Rod?)

Default I too agree with MadJack

I also had the opportunity to run at Tamiya America's test track today. The track was newly sprayed but was very dusty and was under a cool weather. My TBEvo3 with brushless (simulating a 9 turn motor) was no less than awesome. After my first 3 laps. I could not keep the grin I had on my face.
Because of cold weather, I used Tamiya "A" tires with Tamiya hard inserts and Tamiya "0" offset wheels, No tire sauce added. Although I did not start from a stock set-up, instead trying to simulate my 414M2 setup, I ended up returning to Tamiya's stock yellow springs all around to counter the little off-power understeer that I felt (from softer rear springs). After continued adjustments and my fifth run this car was hooked even more...and I don't see any reason It could not get any better. Fred Medel of Tamiya gave my car a try and he gave it a thumbs up, that's proof in itself. Awesome job Tamiya!

I am not sure if it still stuck but Dave Jun had the single fastest lap of the weekend with the new car it is incredible. In the last round of qualifying he almost tq'ed he was a tenth off. Very good showing for the new car ...................................

Heya Jon, I was going to go home and work on the Evo3 but we all had dinner after Tamiya and now it's getting a little late. I'll have it together as soon as possible, you can count on that. But I won't be running it at Tamiya though (don't want to get it too dirty) because it'll be a SoCal only dominator lol Your car and Izzy's car looked dialed today at Tamiya. Arthur let me drive his for five laps today and I was able to start from last, pass the other drivers, stop and wait for them to go by, and pass them again...and they were using mild modified while Arthur was using a stocker. His car felt solid and could be driven hard with a very predictable limit.

Gonna wrench asap

After 4 rounds David Jun is 3rd. Not too bad at all for a new car that he has never ran.

Hi Guys,

Okay, that's it, I'm going to strap myself to the workbench chair and build my EVOIII today. I almost sold it over the weekend (I had three guy wanting it) and I almost let it go considering that I don't have time to build it. But reading how much fun you guys are having and seeing how well Dave is doing, I'm going to keep it and build it today.

Also, I heard that the next batch of EVOIII released in Japan will be the last batch??? Has anyone heard similar?

rtypec,

I'll make sure I blast out the bearings, but I might be getting the rubber sealed bearing kit for EVOIII soon, so I'll wait to blast out those

Yeah the car is doing pretty well. I love my m a lot. I bet this car will be just as good or maybe even better. I bought a evo3. I havent built it yet. I want to get a diff for it. Im happy that you like the evo3. I know when we talked about teh car you didnt know much about it. Well know you do =) Its a sweet ride. So what car would you say its similar to? The TC3 or the M?
