It sure is nice to see how my question was overlooked.

Thanks A lot!

Have you checked out the Surikarn Setup from the Thai race?

He used a Reedy 8T with a 98Spur and a 33Pinion which gives an overall ratio of 7.72.

That might be a starting point, try getting a 32pinion and use your 96 spur to get 7.8 ratio.

Umm, I learned nothing trying to find a TCS legal setup yesterday. I couldn't get the car working at all so any setup ideas/issues/etc. that I have, will hopefully be sorted out next weekend. On a brighter note...a Reedy KR 8x2 geared at 8.1 is blindingly fast!!! Almost too much motor for the track!

Were you using B or B2 tires?

I tried some old B's and then A's. Later, I just ran some TakeOff's to have fun

Just got back from ROAR region 9 regional race in San Antonio. It was my first "BIG" race and my first out of towner aswell. Boy was it a learning experience!! I forgot to bring a table and a chair for one...:P (we have enough for everyone at my track)
Plus they didnt have electricity available...good thing my buddies brought some generators. And I only got to finish one qualifier...after that it was horrible HORRIBLE glitch fest for me...It had been working perfectly at home track and the night before aswell, the problem arose I'm guessing, from that stock handout motor...they called it a paradox motor...gunmetal can with 4 rectangle vents on each flat side of the motor with a blue endbell and no caps. Gosh, I'm so dissappointed with that choice, I thought for regionals we'd get a monster or core or something good...I did more than I've ever had to the motor to get some good juice outta it... sanded the shafts as per Big Jim, cut the comm, aligned brush hood, put in 4505's red/green springs, 3 caps, and a shotty...then broke it in with a pulsar comp. charger with bushing oil and one comm drop. I guess I screwed up... it got rather hot after the break in. But my buddie's motor did not. then I redid the whole car several times rearranging stuff to not glitch...to no avail. My friend fixed his glitch somehow. So after almost 12hrs of unrelenting heat exhaustion(160 track temp), unnerveing frustration, black flag for glitching, full speed crash into a corner marshall at the end of the straight(man i felt that HIT) I gave up. Just left before the mains even began.

God I just hope it wasnt the car...I had it going okay when it wasnt turning on its own desire. BUT the competition was amazing... those cars were just carving the corners... WOW!!! :O
I had it with Assoc springs of gold front/ red rear/ yellow front sway and blue rear... the rear end would BARELY come around there was SOOO much traction. This was a really big track that was slanted to boot! It has those yellow plastic barriers that act like rubber bands...hehehehe I catapulted pretty cool on one crash :P I really liked it and hopefully get to go back and have found the culprit of the ugly glitch monster. Oh yeah... I bent one of the A blocks.. so I finally understand what you guys were talking about a while back. Thats bout it...hopefully i can represent Tamiya better next time... Xray/Assoc were just kickin A$$ that day.

Say, what WHEELS were you guys all running?

Its great to see those multi-spokes back on the track, rather than the usual boring dog Dishes.

sorry... never run 8 turns, too much rebuilding, and to hard to find the right ratio since that thing is gonna feel like the surface of the sun no matter how you gear it... i would just stick to a ten turn at the tamiya track, thats what i have always run there... all the way back to the 1998 tamiya nats (in my TRF TAO3, a thank you )

at my home track, we run spec tires all season, the take-off 27's, so those are the rims i run there.

when i race at other tracks where i glue my own tires, i always run dish rims... probably stronger than rims with spokes, but i perfer the look of the dish rims.

I'm with you Peter. Dish rims are the way to go.

Hey Rod.. wat Pinion/spur mix were u using for that KR? you're running TCS this Sunday right? Hahah.. Since I'm running an Evo3, I can't go to any other class but GT1.. heheh.. See you there.. oh yea, and I'll be sure to move out the way when you pass me a few times ;-)... Besides Tamiya tires, do we have to run tamiya rims too?? Thanks

the only non-tamiya parts legal for tcs...

spur gear
pinion gear
servo saver
tire insert
motor screws(this might have changed??)

so you will have to run the tamiya rims, becuase i am asuming that you are refering to the TCS that is coming up.
