it is actually not 64 or 48 pitch, it is 0.4 metric. however this is close enough to 64 pitch that you can use your 64 pitch pinions with the spurs that are supplied in the kit.

Jeff the EVO has always been a limited edition car. The E3 far exceeded Tamiya's expectations in terms of popularity. The E1 and E2 both were good cars but had their limitations in handling and tunability. The four TCS champs this year all of us were begging to get the car on the trip over but it was not ready for release yet. The Red version is a special as the WCR was also both even more limited in #'s. As I understand it Tamiya even opened a second production run of the E3 to satisfy demand. There were questions of the car even coming to the States due I'm sure in part to the low demand of the E1-2.

Locally there is a car here NIB in Seattle and I see Kraig has one pick it up don't worry about the next EVO. I would say it will be at least next year if it is coming, parts will be a non issue as the TA-04, 414 E3 all use the same suspension bits. And all the parts on the Red are coming as hop-ups. I am hoping to see some of them for Reedy but not sure yet.

I just got off the phone with Tamiya USA. The Evo3 has not been discontinued. It is a Limited Edition, but it has not been discontinued.

The guy's on the Yokomo SD thread seem to be getting a big kick out of the "discontinued"status of the EVO3.
Oh well.

I just found out today that U.S. Tamiya's website put the Sulikarn Limited on their new release section. I think it is coming to U.S.

That's is so not right.

The 0.4 pitch is very close to 64 pitch, and no where near 48pitch.

I have a selection of 48pitch pinions for other vehicles and there is no way they would fit onto 0.4 pitch spurs. The 0.4 pitch is much finer.

I just use the tamyia 0.4 pitch pinions, they are lighter then any other ones I have seen and give you the proper mesh.

EVO sorry I won't be out, and the 4 of us from last year are all West Coast. For TCS Three of us are not eligible anymore as we receive help from Tamiya now. I will be at the local races and Nats but not the individual stops. Whatever help I can offer I would be glad to. I will be helping organize the Seattle TCS stop and we have some fun things planned.

does anybody here ever experienced "torque steer" with the EVOIII? if so... anyway to counteract it?

anybody compared the EVOIII to a TC3?

Me thinks the explanation given is not clear enough, not to me anyway.

But I have 64pitch, 48pitch and 0.4 pitch. The 48 is much courser, and not like the picture in the tower link at all.

Check out the attached file I have taken a picture of 3 types or pinions:
31tooth, 64pitch pinion the gold coloured one at the top
34tooth, 0.4pitch pinion the silver one on the right
31tooth, 48pitch pinion the silver one on the left

Does this make it clearer?

think of it this way:towerhobbies might just be making a mistake.
i can tell u now,0.4M is very close to 64p.
they both not quite the same but not very different
48p is impossible to be used with 0.4M gears.period.
