Performula - Take a look at page 75 of the Tamiya Championship Series thread in Racing Forums. I posted a picture of my Mercedes C11 body and chassis there. I have an original Mazda 787B still new in box, a reissued Mercedes that I already ran at the Tamiya R&D track in So Cal, and a rerelease Jag new in the box,a nd an F40 new in box.
The cars only come with foams and the F103 rubber tires will not work on the rear. On Tamiya's track that is sprayed, the traction is good, and I was eating up 4WD sedans with 23T motors with just a 27T stock motor in mine. On an untreated outdoor surface, the car had zero grip and was no fun.
The rerelease do not have an esc with them. You need to add all the electronics. Aside from the original bodies, you can also tell a re-release by the plastic parts. Part of the x-frame on the originals were colored (Mazda is green, Jag in blue, Ferrari F40 in red, etc.). The re-release have all black plastic parts.
Ray - The group C bodies will not fit on the F103 chassis. When I was at Tamiya (yeah, it was my car Hebiki borrowed and only the battery running out was how we were able to pry the controller from his hand), a guy had a F103LM Toyota TS020 kit. The Toyota looked like a 1/12 kit next to the Mercedes C11.
Hebiki - I will be at Tamiya this coming Saturday with the Group C car again. You can run a full fresh pack this time if you want.
Trackdesigner71 - Sauber C12 was an F103 chassis F1 car. Completely different. Tamiya has done a couple of reissues in F1 like the Ferrari 312T3 and Tyrrell P34. However, all the reissues have been cars originally from about '93 and earlier. The C12 was a late '90's car so it would probably be a long time before they did. Also, they usually just release the ones that were real popular and the C12 body is pretty plain.
Rumor has it the MAzda 787B may be a Japan only release.
