I personally made the move from a 6.2-7-7.1 since about june of last year and stepping into racing tc.

the change from 6.2-7 was not noticeable for me. the change from the 7-7.1 was night and day. I am still learning certain things in onroad but i have been much more competitive and consistent since i have moved over to the 7.1. This is also on a low-med bite bumpy carpet surface mostly still running the kit carbon chassis.

IMO the car is more stable, responsive, and predictable compared to the 7. I am on average .2 faster on my average lap times over a 5 min run.

The set was intended for the TC6.1 which had a center-post steering, the dual bellcrank system on the later cars reduces clearance but is not insurmountable by any means.

They are in-stock at Tower/Great Planes, but for whatever reason this is one of the Associated parts they won't sell to dealers (the upgrade pulleys, shock pliers, a few other "specialty" things) so I had to order direct from Tower.

Do you or anyone else have a pic of how the AE strap kit fits on a TC7? I'm just wondering what it really takes to get it to fit. Are we talking about a tiny notch in the front bracket?

I've literally been using strapping tape from the hardware store and while it works fine, I'd rather deal with velcro.

Yes. I removed the battery holders and cut a couple of notches in the straps. Then put them under the battery holders. Saved $20.

Pic attached. The fitting is SO inconsequential as to almost not merit mentioning. Was less interference than with my 6.2 which I had to file some away from the outboard retainers to get the battery girth to fit. A couple seconds with a file or Dremel sanding drum, re-fit and inspect, if it needs a few more strokes with the file take it off and do so until it clears nicely. The 6.2 iir the bellcrank barrel was touching. The TC7 really the only thing was the arm on the bellcrank would touch as you approached steering lock. I don't actually know that with the lock set with the servo and setup if it even actually touches, I did it as I assembled the chassis and saw that there was interference...the electronics and servo weren't even installed.

I had the opposite experience than you. I felt my TC7 was a huge jump over my TC6.2. Then I felt my TC7.1 was just a minor jump over the TC7. Maybe it has to do with running medium traction asphalt instead of carpet.

the TC7 imo is the best TC Team Associated has ever put out...and I own most of them....the TC7.1 just added that extra !!!!!! to a great chassis...add the aluminum chassis for high bite situations and you have a TC that is one of the best out there....if not the best...the entire chassis is better from the plastics and geometry to the setup and weight....its just a better car

We will see if the tc7.1 is better than my tc4 special edition....
Who's running the tc7.1 at 360v2 again ??? I've got all my upgrades installed finally, and I will be going from bench racing to carpet racing immediately.....
See you guys soon....

My only concern is it adds a little height under the batt. I even shaved (literally, with one of my shavers. Lol) the little fibres to make it thinner. We'll see how it holds up.

Too bad you weren't looking a couple of weeks ago. Tower had them for $289 and then dropped to $269 (before coupon code) - but now shows as discontinued.
