Anyone with the vtd should really try the C138 alternative part that replaces the C38. It seems to slightly stiffen the vtd in the rear making the car a bit more agressive.

Feel free to ask if you have any question regarding the setup.
I need a little help from the A800 community. I purchased a second A800 to run as my VTA car. I have tried both the Fairtrace base setup as well as the set up above posted by Mitch. Both setups were good but I prefer the Mitch setup as the better of the two and it is very close to the base carpet set up in the A800 manual. The only major differences is I am running the soft springs instead of the standard springs. I did compare the rate chart between the two springs and I am almost identical with the front spring rate settings and a bit softer in the rear when compared to the Mitch set up. I am also having to run 6mm of spacers for dynamic toe as the car major grip in corners. Anything less and I can't get the rear rotation I need. I am running on old gray ozite carpet with VTA tires which are very high grip.

My issue is regardless of what set up I put on the car, I am experiencing hopping/chatter/scrubbing in the corners and I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. I like the aggressiveness of the Mitch set up and the car is very quick and steers excellent. I typically TQ and podium nearly every week at out club race so the car is very good, I just feel there is a lot more corner speed in the car if I could smooth out the chatter/scrubbing.

I also run an A800 in USGT and I do not experience this issue in USGT. The spec USGT tires are far less grip so I'm tending to think the issue is caused my how much traction the VTA tires produce.

I've tried a few different set ups and variations to try and see if I can influence the chatter/scrubbing but no matter what I do, it still remains. Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to figure out what is causing this? Any help is appreciated.

Chatter/hopping could mean too stiff. I'd try four tests at all four corners--

1. Shock A gap at 4/max (stiff) and B gap at 4mm (soft)
2. Shock A gap at 0 (soft) and B gap at 4mm (soft)
3. Shock A gap at 4/max (stiff) and B gap at 0mm (stiff)
4. Shock A gap at 0 (soft) and B gap at 0mm (stiff)

See which is best / resolves your hop issue -- and then tune from there i.e. maybe soften the front more or stiffen the rear more.

Go with more firm spring/damp in rear, raise role center , shorten rear wheel base in rear to -4

Thanks for both posts for feedback. I should have mentioned that I did shorten the rear wheel base already to -4. I will try the different shock settings at all for corners as well as stiffening up the rear to see how that goes. I should be able to test this coming Friday. I will post what I find in case others encounter the same.

Thanks

I was almost on the verge of traction rolling on a med traction asphalt track. I gained a lot of steering and rear traction. Was also thinking about trying the front cross brace on the VTD. Any thoughts on that?

hello i have some setup questions:

if i put 5g weight in front of the car just behind the front bumper ,would i get more or less rear grip?

on my local carpet track the car has great steering although a little bit too aggressive..
and the rear are a little too loose on power out of the turns.
so i will work on the rear grip first..

my setup on 800xa is the initial set up from the manual 800x(a)

only difference is 1.5 toe out
,droop front:5.4 rear:4.8,
and swaybars in front and rear are the 1.1.

according to the ryan maker setup book, weight towards the front will give more rear grip..i always thought it was the other way around?

and in my case i need more rear grip on power out of turns..

i drive 13.5t stock ,and the track is small and technical.

Weight on front end calms down a car. This is very useful to do on a carpet track. We in fact run a larger/heavier bumper on all carpet events with AwesomatixUSA

That sounds like too much shim for -4. I would suggest 2.75mm for that caster setting, which will help loose on exit.
