A800 Information
New Parts
  • June 2016: A800-SPR01-98 - The version of SPR01 springs with reduced angle of the tips bending. Recommended for using with new SPR02H3 Shock Rod Guides.
  • June 2016: A800-SPR01S-98 - The version of SPR01S springs with reduced angle of the tips bending. Recommended for using with new SPR02H3 Shock Rod Guides.
  • May / June 2016: A800-AM14A - includes new optional "longer" hole on steering arm
  • May / June 2016: A700-AM14-3 - removes the prior "longer" hole on steering arm
  • May / June 2016: A800-C04AL+0.5 - 0.5mm wider alloy suspension arm
  • May / June 2016: A800-C01B-2.25 - 2.25mm carbon main plate (best suited for asphalt racing)
  • May / June 2016: A800-D2.2 - Dampers that support a thicker SPR02H3
  • May / June 2016: A800-SPR02H3 - Thicker Shock Rod Guides for the D2.2 damper
  • May / June 2016: A800-AT41-2 - Damper vane for the D2.2 damper designed to work w/ SPR02H3
  • May / June 2016: A800-SPR02H - Stronger Shock Rod Guides for the D2.0 and D2.1 damper versions
  • May 2016: A800-AM19-4 - Currently used in the rear of a kit. With AM19-4 the top link effective length is 0,7mm shorter compare to AM19-2. Also with AM19-4 the flex of suspension is smaller ( similar to more stiffer arm and c-hub of normal cars). The screws on dampers are more accessible for adjustment.
  • January 2017 - SPRO2X - new for dampers and do not require a 98 degree bent spring.
  • January 2017 - New A800X and A800XA kits now available featuring 0.3mm longer front and rear wheelbase.

  • May - Current: Kits now including DT10-2-1 bearing holders for increased side play and durability of the differential and spool.
  • May - July 2016: bearings within kits require oil before use

I liked the +.5 arms, wide hubs, shortened rear wheel base, 1.2 swaybars front/rear & less front camber for these conditions(also take into consideration your upper inner camber link shimming).

It is important to know also the rest of your dampers/springs settings.
Is your rear suspension stiffer than front one?

Hi Oleg,

I was running SRS configuration 1

Front- 1mm damper spacing and 1.4mm spring spacing
Rear- 2.4mm damper spacing and 1.4mm spring spacing

I was working backwards from an outdoor setup trying to tune the car to the low grip carpet- turns out that was not a good idea. I have reset the car to the carpet setup in the instruction manual and will tune from that point.

Congrats to the entire AwesomatixUSA team this weekend in Denver at the Mile High Indoor Champs. Tq + win in:

17.5 TC - Kyle Klingforth
21.5 TC - Bill Sydor
USGT - Bill Sydor

Not to mention the tremendous 2nd+ runs by other team members in all classes. We had AwesomatixUSA drivers battling each other for 1st in many classes. Finally... Big congrats to Sam Isaacs for his 2nd and Kyle Klingforth for his 3rd place in Mod TC

Has anyone tried using the VTD top deck and 2.25mm carbon chassis on low to med grip asphalt? Or would this combination have too much flex to have any benefit on asphalt?

I ran it for 1/2 of the 2016 asphalt nationals event in mod TC. I liked it and will have vtd on my A800X car to start with outdoors

I dont have an A800X. These are A800s.


This was the A800 + VTD, modified TC, on a low bite, cold and a slimy track. Took a couple laps for the car to come in. You can see the difference compared to the other cars.

I have a A800x Aluminum coming soon, I'm looking for base line set-up for 21.5-17.5 using Jaco's blues and Running on the same " literally" CRC carpet from the snowbirds, any suggestions?

Dazzk we run on very low grip grey ozite and to help reduce on power steering you could try a few things, such as toe out in the front, go lighter diff oil in the rear, run soffter rear setup to allow the rear to squat under acceleration, reduce your steering throw. If all off these things still give you too much on power steering you could try runing two diff setup instead of a spool. Normally a car that has good on power steering is a fast car because to you really drive on throttle.

Default Awesomatix A800X

I had the opportunity to run an A800X for the first time this weekend. The car was a pleasure to build with the amount of attention to engineering and detail. On track, it is very good and I want to thank the community for all the resources, tips, and tricks that have been shared.

If anybody's interested (I'm not a factory pro all star driver), I can post a setup that uses stock parts. If not, that's cool.

Additionally, Roel, a fast local guy who happens to be pretty smart, designed some incredibly precise caster gauges with very tight tolerances. I'm not sure if or when these will be available at hobby shops but you can reach him here on rctech at spoon@fork. He'll also be at the Reedy Race next month so you can see them in person.

One question about the rear belt tension: I have the bearing housing at the most backward position, but still tension is rather loose. The belt looks good, has most of its brown color still on the teeth. Front is fine though.

Rod- please feel free to share I'm sure some people would love to see the setup from the tamiya track guru

Rincewind- what car/tensionsers? The X car should be able to make it tighter than you need. The older 800 could not get the rear belt very tight, optional cams were released to get more tension (dt10-2, -3)

Will do. The car was very good with the setup I kind of mashed together. I looked at all the X asphalt setups on petitrc, found commonality, and in areas that were different made educated guesses based on previous traditional touring car experiences.

I wanted to try a setup from Brandon but I didn't have the parts that and a couple of Kettle-Sevens prevented me from wrenching and making wholesale changes post practice-pre race.

Not too shabby for its first outing.

It's easy to forget that the offset is opposite to the little marker "dot" in the housing. If you rotate the dot to the rear, you're loosening the tension. Rotate the dot forward to increase tension.
