What size pinion is a good starting point?

Usually around 3.0 ratio
Most ppl switch to the 88t spur from the stock 93,
I Dina range of 26-30 with 88 spur depending on the size and layout of the track

Finished assembling the kit last night. For my 1st F1 it went together smoothly.
Next is electrics and body.

Had a undersized 1/4 inch bearing in the kit which VBC is replacing.
Here are my build tips.
Pre thread the hollow hinge pins with the M2x6mm screw. Use some black grease to help cut the threads, other wise the screw might snap off.
Polish the king pin, it makes a huge difference. Also polish the front axle.
Check/ream the steering arm where the King pin slides in.

Would like to see a carbon fibre rear axle as an option in the future.

I just got 6 protoform bodies in stock. I cut one out to test on the Lightning fx, I am happy to say you can make it work on the Lightning fx with a conventional shorty lipo, I am still going to test the low profile lipo as I am curious if the lower center of gravity will help the car
The bodies should be up on the website by end of day.

I assume you mean the new 15 body?

Could you post a pic so we can see how you trimmed it?

Liveried r25 paint job to follow, I didn't want to commit a decal sheet in case it didn't fit. It weighs in at 34 grams with acrylic paint very close to the pf 13 weight.

thanks for the pictures i have the same body and I'm trying to mount it to your pic helped how you mount the front body post the screw is way to long you cut the screw ?

I have a very very old abrasive cloth strip. Its about 12mm x 30mm long.
Add a tiny bit of Autosol Metal Polish, then spin it in a drill.

I just finished this build and it's a nice car. got it setup in perpendicular battery location and wow!! it turns great. Out of the box it feels like cheating. lol

I will have a video out in a little while once I get it edited (3 hours of footage) to just show the build. Cheers to a great car

Im torn. I dont know if I should go for the VBC Lighting FX or switch sides and go with the norm and get the '16 X1.

I have the old LightingF and to be honest that car doesnt turn no matter what setting I throw at it. Coming here and reading your comments saying the FX handles like its on rails sparked my interest in upgrading to the FX, but as Ive dealt with building 2 VBC kit, I do question the quality.
