Keep a eye out for a new VBC carbon axle for the FX. Eta will be released early next month.

I would like to try it out, however, I am too busy with moving apartments, new job, and wedding preparations. Hence why I've been quiet on the forums and YouTube.

Would definitely be exciting if a new F1 from VBC is in the works. Im suspecting only a refresh of the front end in the style of the Xray/Yokomo/Roche.

I do hope they revise the rear wing support as that weak piece of carbon fiber always breaks

be sure to stock more of these lower arm ball cups. after a while and a few crashes they will bend and mess with the suspension geometry

Congrats on all the above, Mr. Edward!!

I still haven't built my FX. . . Building yet "another" F104 and messing around with a couple of F201's I have recently acquired.

I want to take my time on the FX and do it right.

I'm hoping that the new front end will bolt-on to the FX chassis.

For those interested, the weight of aluminum chassis is
108g for the main chassis vs 57g for the stock carbon
17g for the pod vs 9g for the stock carbon

mine is just installed , not tested, look very nice!

After bending my second upper arm hinge pin, I decided to make some out of titanium. This last one bent due to contact from another driver. Just a racing accident but still a week part. The titanium rear axle is so much better than that heavy steel one that came with the kit.

Also looking at making king pins with lower spring landing machined in. The C clip is a bit of a problem when using higher caster angles. Hope to eliminate that whole issue.

Yes the hollow hinge pins are an issue. The e-clip falls off easily but you can help it stay on better if you put a washer between the spring and the clip.

I was sick and tired of breaking the wing mount whenever roll my car or have a crash. The design of the rear wing mount is absolutely horrible with too many stress points and weak links milled into the piece in favor of aesthetics so I decided to get a sheet of 3mm 3K carbon fiber plate and make my own mount.

You can probably see the weak point is on the right side between the wing and bulkhead mounting locations.

Hopefully this one is MUCH stronger

I found that you have to trim to much material when running 8 degrees of caster on a low grip surface to keep the bottom E clip from getting caught during compression. Making the boss on the lower side of the king pin will eliminate the E clip altogether by making it just slightly larger than the spring. No chance of binding or loss of the clip.

I have been using the aluminum chassis on carpet and getting better rear grip than the carbon. Qualified 3rd at the MHIC in Denver this year with the FX and aluminum chassis. Have not run it on asphalt. Will run the same at IIC this year.

Made the titanium inner hinge pins. They work great. Decided to mill a recess for the set screw to retain them. Even after minor tangle with a corner dot that normally would kill a standard pin I found no damage. The TI king pins with a boss for the spring to rest on works great, zero binding at the higher angles.

This is what VBC needs to add to the next version.
