I've been .5 off the pace form awhile. Working on some new gear ratios. Had a 96 spur the guy beating me has a 100. Last week went to an 88.Went back to the 96 for this weekend. Tried two different motors with the same results. It's just just a big trial and error thing. My best times at our track is 11.2 while the top guys are 10.9's and heard he was practicing after we left with a 10.8.
The only good thing was the new motor blower I got from Hobby King. With the high motor temps it brought the motor down quickly.

Go to a high strength rotor. I run 120/52 on our current track with a Team Scream set at 20 deg. EBT. Rotor is 1560. Motor temps are 110.

I haven't had a 120 spur in years. the biggest I've got is 100. My temps have never been that low. Usually 140 with timing at 40 on the machine. It says higher on the motor can on one motor and 50 on the one I'm running. Not sure about the Rotor as by buddy has the gause meter and the motor equipment.

I can run any combo that adds up to 177t on the CRC with the conversion pod plates. They are the F1 plates with an extra hole in each at the bottom. Now our track is 22 x 40 with the new carpet. But the way the new carpet slowed the cars down and raised the temps. We ran a layout back to back just to see.

I don't have the conversion pod- just the standard SE pod.Where did the 177 come from? As for our carpet - all we have been running on is the New Black CRC with subfloor(by the Snowbird crew) since the birds.

The different is speed beween our GT17.5 (foam tires) and the WGT-R is like two laps. almost like running the old stock and modified classes.
Have you tried gluing the front tires(Rubber) on both sides?
The gear ratios I've tried this past weekend actually got the motors sounding better.I'm back to a 32x96 for this weekend. Be has high as 42x96 and the motor ran best with a 38-40 pinion.

I run a 96 tooth spur and seem to have success with it.

Let me start by saying that I really enjoy this class. Its affordable to get started in, cars are easy to set up and maintain, and the racing is super close!

Here's my question: While my car is running well and is competitive speed wise, I seem to have a "Chatter" from the tires when cornering. Early on, it was just in the rear, as I have gotten the car faster, its both front and rear.

Whole I'm getting good results, I'm confident there is more speed in the car if I can eliminate this. Has anyone else experienced it?

The 177 comes from the sum of the teeth on each gear. Every car has a number and it is good to know it.
Qball41: You are right, the racing is super close. You have to drive very well and be consistently to win. F1 with 25.5 is very similar just a little faster. at our track last week the fast F1 lap was 9.65, the WGT-R was 10.05. I enjoy both immensely.

I reduced mine by going softer all around and more droop in the front

Thanks SG1. Going softer causes traction rolls, but I'll try more front droop.

I had the tire shutter/chatter/????? when I started as well. On the new carpet you will need to glue the front sidewalls, and go to soft spings to get the grip and speed. With out doing both you will not be happy or fast.

They were glued once, but it's probably worn off. I'll try it again and see if it lets me go softer.

Glue is important as Grenade10 said.
I had a pretty good chatter and flipping issue with my F1 too.
Lots of glue, lots of droop, soft springs and light dampening helped me.

I got the total about of teeth-177. But where did the number of 177 come from? If that's the number for the F1 conversion, what would the the number for the standard Se rear pod.

Any tips on gearing. I'm experimenting with different spur pinion combinations. But yet to find something that doesn't heat up the motors. Any help would be appreciated
