Default Need help gearing my Tamiya trf 417x

Hey guys, I'm new to on-road and having some trouble figuring out gear ratios. My Tamiya TRF 417x is running well but it lacks overall punch and top-end speed. Other guys w/the same kit at the track have way more top-end and better acceleration. It's not the motor or esc because I have top-notch electronics. I'm using the stock 111 tooth 64 pitch spur, and a 38 tooth pinion. Someone at the track told me to order a Kimbrough 96 tooth 64 pitch spur gear and use a 46t 64 pitch pinion, but the Kimbrough spur doesn't fit properly, the holes won't line up to lock-in the pully holders. So the new spur is useless. My kit also came w/a 113 tooth Tamiya spur, and I have 3 aftermarket 3m racing pinions of 42t, 46t, and 51t. So is there a gear ratio with what I have that will give the car more punch? Or is there an aftermarket 96 tooth spur that will actually fit?
So...
I have: Tamiya 111 T spur, and 113 T spur
and: pinions of 38t, 42t, 46t, and 52t.
I would rather understand what I'm doing rather than just installing things and "seeing what happens..." Any insights appreciated!

Speed passion 17.5R, boosted I think. This is what I have: In the third pic you can see the Kimbrough spur which doesn't have holes that line-up w/the blue pulley holders (the male and female sides won't connect through this part).

Massive difference in FDR requirements for 17.5 Blinky (in the 3's) vs Boosted (in the 5's)

If boosted, the advice you're getting re gearing won't mean squat if your boost/turbo settings are all wrong.

However, the ESC you are using is a non-timing one - no boost - so if you are racing against guys that are running boost, you have no chance to catch them in reality.
