Also am I correct in saying that the Castle XLX is probably the esc of choice here?
Any advice offered I'm happy to take.

I have many motors I run in my Mugen. Here are a few:

-Poseidon 1700kv-145 mph
-Poseidon 1500kv-138 mph
-Castle 2200kv-150 mph
-Poseidon 2200kv-150 mph
-TP Power motor-157 mph
-Cordova Research-164 mph

Different gearing on each setup pretty much. You will just have to put in your own work and see what works best for you. Different factors like tires, length of road, etc... must also be considered. Go out there and test it.....

And yes, the XLX is the best esc for speed, power, tunability, data logging, and drivability. Just make sure you update the firmware to the latest version or you will be scratching your head wondering why 8s feels like 3s lol.

No Idea -- I haven't gone to a straight line Speed Run in quite some time, and the guys I knew who ran at the Camarillo one last year said they wouldn't go back -- the surface was too rough for them.

Things are headed towards a return of the SWT Series, but for
2017 the focus will be on the Encino Velodrome (and dirt oval racing)

I went a new PB last night.... only the 4th run on the car... start at 2:38 as we had some traffic. I need to find a long flat road..... Running in the day would be nice as well.

Luckily I will be running my 1/8 scales which do not require perfectly smooth roads.

Thanks man! I still cant believe the car is going as fast as it is.... I litterally bought all of the parts used off of this site, car/ body/ motor, even the gears... Only thing I bought new on it was the ESC.

Yes it is... thanks man, wasn't even going to run the car last night. I was focused on my 6s car, but John is a good motivator...

Big props to Steve from Rc Discount, stole the 6s class MPH last night, with a car he just built that night.

Wow. That is awesome!

I finally decided to post a video of my XO-1 because I hit 101 MPH on video. Going to join the fun and see how fast I can go with my setup.

Just in case anybody cared about the alien power esc's, I don't think I'll be the one to tell you about it. I'm going to use a coupon I have and buy an XLX first. Doing these 150-160 mph runs is amazing to me, how are you controlling it at speed? My transmitter has trouble at 400-500 feet due to the wireless router interference (maybe) that I have around me.

Adam and I went out last night for some testing and tuning... ended up getting kicked out of our local spot

Good news is I went a best in my 6s car 133mph and stole our 6s crown Super happy hopefully I'll be able to do better with fresh packs, going with an in between gear.
