I read somewhere that SF, Oakland, and Sacramento airports were all about the same distance, one was like 20 min farther. Just go for the cheapest of those 3, lol.

Avoid SFO, if there is rain you could be delayed 1 to 3 hours. Oakland or Sacramento is your best choice.

You can fly Southwest or JetBlue for cheap into Oakland (if they serve your local airport, of course). Then make haste toward the freeway.

Sorry about the confusion.

Northern Californians often refer to Sacramento (and its main airport) as "SAC".

The airport designation for Sacramento International Airport is SMF. There are a few other airports in the Sacramento area; however, they do not handle commercial airlines.

Using CheapTickets.com, I get the same flights if I designate either SAC or SMF as the destination...Kewl!

I'd consider the day and time of arrival...early morning week day fly into Oak and avoid traffic into bay from valley...late afternoon or afternoon fly into SAC and avoid the traffic coming back from the Bay (205 thru Tracy sucks...). Just my two cents...personally I would fly into SAC.

Fly to Reno/Lake Tahoe a day or 2 early, enjoy yourself then rent a car, it will take less time to drive than from Frisco during rush hour. From what I remeber it was less than 2 hours away. Hows traffic these days? That was about 10 years ago.
Hey, that sounds like a lot more fun than driving from Seattle

A late season snow storm could nix the idea of landing in Reno.

In my book, it is far better to see the SF Bay Area than Reno.

Save gambling and show seeing for the ICC in Las Vegas, baby.
