Can't comment if it's the best as I've not tried every one.

But at the moment I'm really liking my gforce g6p charger.

Saves a lot of room in the pit box, looks good, lots of features and great solid build quality.

How much you wanna spend? Way to many options out there in different price ranges.

I personally use an iCharger 308duo ($270, DC only so you need a PS).

When I don't want to set the 308 duo up I pull out one of my AC680's ($57, AC/DC).

Have a look at the link below, they only sell good quality chargers.

They all do the same thing, initializes the same, charges & Discharge. pb, nimh, lipo, life, Balances, Storage charge. All come down to cosmetically. What it looks like that fancy yourself. I'd go for one that uses AC/Dc. Up to you.

I like my 308duo but I wish it had a built in power supply. For what they cost I kind of expect all the bells...

For a charger to have a built in power supply, it's either going to make the charger massive (if you want to be able to charge at 30Ax2 like the 308 can) or to stay small, you'll have to accept a much lower charge rate.

Like cplus mentioned in his post, the 308duo can handle up to 1300w, adding a built in power supply would make the charger big and bulky.

For my 308 duo I converted a HP DPS-600PB server power supply for like $20 and a little time with soldering. The PS can only handle 575w but I knew I wasn't gonna push the 308 duo much past 450'ish watts for the charging I do.

After replacing (2) 308DUOs, I absolutely love my GT500.This doesn't do a lot of discharging, but for build quality and charge accuracy it's hard to beat this new charger from Revoletrix.

not really... the 1000w psu in my desktop is the same size as the protek everyone seems to buy.. not really that big and bulky at all if its all in one unit.

The way I see it, decide how many amps you'll want to be charging at and then go from there.

I knew i'd never charge above 10A, so I was able to save some money and went with a iCharger 106B+. It's a rock solid charger and has pretty much all the functionality I'd every need.

Most chargers are running similar, if not identical firmware and all operate pretty much the same.

^ this bloke is on the money.

For most EP events the most you are going to run is two classes, so at worst you are unlikely to need to be charging more than 2 batteries at once.

If you are organised you could get away with one channel, but two is better if running two classes. For Heli guys and people running 1/8GTE with two batteries, well, that's different.

And then from a output point of view, somewhere between 1C and 2C is the sort of charge rate so anything with a 10A-16A per channel output is more than adequate. Most (all?) race batteries are currently under 8000mAh

For power supply, well, think of all the other things to connect.

For me, it's Charger (pulling around 12A at once max), Pit Light, iPhone, tyre warmers and tyre sander at most. 25A of power supply is more than adequate.
