Danny,
just a comment.
If I want good number cells matched by your company, I have no chance of getting them.
I live in the UK, so I go to the retailer, they might order them from CML who might order them from you.
It seems if you ship cells, the importer gets 1st pick and then the retailer and the poor old punter is last.
As i said this is just a comment
Kind regards
Andy

That's more of a problem with the distributor...
In Canada, our distributor makes sure that the shops still get decent #'s...
that being said..the numbers of the latest batch of 3800's have been incredible across the board....there should be plenty of good # packs to be found.

We seperate our packs in to 3 groups. IB3806(best voltage) , IB3806E(just a little less voltage) and 3800MSP which is a matched stick pack with typically the lowest average voltage.
So when CML orders our IB3806 all packs should be good in voltage. We have an order that will ship out to CML in a 10-14 days and the numbers will be very good.

How much less voltage are we talking about? I know Tower's site says 1.17's, but with the new batch of 1.19's, I would think it would be closer to 1.18's. What say you?

I just bought an IB 3800 six cell pack with awesome numbers, 1.202 Vlts, 414 runtime and 1.8 I-Res. That is by far the best pack I have seen around my local track, even some sponsered guys don't have numbers like that. Its a good that some non sponsered guys can get some of the really good stuff to run.

I've been matching cells for 15 years or so and there has always been racers who think that sponsored racers get the best cells and no one else can get cells like that. That is not true we sell everything we match up and since we do so many cells every week we will save the top cells a few weeks before a major event such as the Nats , Vegas race and so on. If we do 10 000 cells in the few weeks before a major race and we save 50 packs or so that is 300 cells out of 10 000 this still leaves plenty of great cells to sell for those 2 weeks. The other weeks we sell everything we match up.
With the IB cells having low IR there isn't a big difference between a 1.18-1.20 because the IR will be low on both cells so the performance will be real similar. I know that part of RC racing is bench racing and that is why racers want to pay the extra dollars for .005 - .01 more average voltage but it really doesn't make a big difference if any.

Well with what you are saying Danny it tells me that we might as well buy non-matched packs of IB3800 cells from places that just sell from a bulk order direct from the cell manufacturer. That way the cells are half the price as well, so I can afford to replace them twice as often and benefit from having fresh cells rather than the tiny advantage you get from top spec matched packs, that by the time they are half a season old are not as good as fresh un-matched packs anyway.

No fodder. You will be able to notice a difference between a 1.175 cell/pack and 1.197 cell/pack. I kniw because I have some like that. Go mathced with these cells. If you look at the price of unmatched and matched now. Not to much difference. If you want the high end cells. You will pay a little more. Team Brood and SMC are great companies for cells. I have some from each.

I don't know where you get that from his comments???
You still want your packs to be matched...and the additional voltage *is* noticeable in zapped vs. raw cells...
His comment was that with the super low IR on many of these cells 1.8, 1.7, etc...you won't notice a difference of .005v as much as you did on the older 2.3IR packs...
If you're just looking for play around, raw, unmatched cells would be perfect for you. You don't need high volt, low IR matched packs for play....

By buying unmatched cells you have a chance of getting a few cells with a big spread in runtime which will eventually make the pack drop off faster.
My point was to point out that there is no need to worry about the top numbers that the mid level packs are pretty much the same. As a cell matcher I should tell everyone buy our best packs because that is where the money is made for us but I don't like to mislead fellow racers. After racing for 19 years I understand that even if I tell racers what I believe they need they will still want to buy the best numbers because they feel they need to and want to feel good about getting the highest packs.
6 years ago I was helping my friend at a 4 cell oval track with his setup and we got his car to handle real good. That night my friend won the A main and in the middle of the main this kids grandfather said you guys have the best batteries in your car and your car won't slowdown. I told him the pack in my friends car was actually a bit lower in voltage then what was for sale in the counter and if he was doing so well it was because we worked real hard on the setup. He didn't believe me and wanted to buy the pack in my friends car. To prove him my point I decided to sell him the pack for 30 bucks and brought him to my friends car after the race so he could see me unsolder the pack from the car and then give it to him.
The following week his grandson was still 2 laps off the pace and my friend with his great setup won again with another pack.

Man I bet that guy felt like an idiot... So Danny, after getting caught up in that conversation, what is the voltage difference between your "Matched Race" and "Economy" packs? Or is runtime the difference?
