The Motiv motor had plenty of power out there and I don't think anyone was outright faster down the straight. With the S-Mid rotor my motor was geared at 3.08 with 42° timing off the motor checker.

I do think the S-High rotor would have been better but I simply don't have one to try. I'm not sure I would have been able to gear up more but it may have picked up a little. Glad to hear that you're finding your way with that motor.
To that point, the last race we had at LHR the Goat won, Cory 2nd and me third. At a point in the race I was leading Cory and was able to confirm that my car was faster than before. Faster than him on the straight for sure but, as you know, Cory has phenomenal skill so he past me on the infield (a very tight pass well executed). So, if you ask me if the stronger rotor worked, I will have to say yes given the factors I mentioned before. The numbers on my motor checker reflects the change in output so I guess is an improvement. My S-High Motiv rotor is on the mail. I'll test it out when I get it.

Hey, I am not trying to justify or convince you. I am not a salesman, I am not sponsored by Motiv, nor do I have anything to gain from it.

I browse the forums to learn more and contribute when I can. Its about sharing information and assisting others. I am just trying to explain what I learned from testing many different motors. I am the guy at the track with 6 spec 24k motors, 2 maxzillas, 3 speedzones, 2 team powers, 4 motiv. I like to test motors, help other racers tune their motors and find a competitive advantage.

Currently, the motiv are the strongest motors I have even though on the dyno the numbers don't seem as impressive pulling lower amps and lower rpms than the other motors I own. But you can run a lower FDR with it.

Well first day of States qualifying is down, I am sitting in 2nd, running the M Code 21.5 in my A800, set the FDR at 2.7 and even then it's a bloody slug. My best times on this track with my Fantom FR-1 21.5 geared at 2.8 are around 18.5/18.6 I'm down at a best of 18.9 and the laptimes are fading off to 19.6/19.7. This is with a brand new R1 Wurks 7600 90C Lipo (done 4 cycles) and a car weighing in at 1370 grams. My first qual I ran my A700 on a track that was barely dry (very slick with GRP 36 control tyres) and was at 18.8 with that using a Trinity 24K 21.5 FDR 3.1, but a hit in that dislodged the esc servo lead so ended the qual after 12 laps 3 minutes, motor was starting to fade slightly.

Person in P1 is running a Fantom FR-1 and a sponsored driver.
Person in P3 is a R1 Wurks
P4 is a Team POwers Plutonium

You'll need to run the Faster setup to get that title... Good info...

I would try a higher Fdr before pulling the motor. Motiv suggested fdr for that wind was in the 3's.

Need some help on which way to go with my Motiv 21.5 in my USGT touring car. The motor did not feel like it had much pull as my TSR motor did.

FDR 3.04 (same as I ran with my TSR motor)
Mid rotor
Timing on can around 50 (I have not put it on the motor analyzer to get true timing)
170 foot straight flowing outdoor asphalt track
Generally it is med to high bite

My question is should I lower my timing or go up on the FDR to try to get some better pull out of the corner.

I would try the FR-1.

One of the tricks I did to get back some pull out of the corners with Novak motor was to bring the throttle EXPO up to +30% or so on the radio, but that was only beneficial with very wide turn tracks, not good for the twisties....

Never got a chance to play with the motor much as I had issues in heat 2 that needed rectifying. I did run at 86mmpr the motor was warm, I was fast down the straight and didn't seem to lose anything in the infield. Track was technical with a national length straight. Only 5 minutes runs though. I'll be starting at 86mm at the national next week and try increasing from there. Difficult when the grip is coming up to know how much is down to the motor.

Well put the Fantom back in and got my times into the 18.6/18.7 area, a tad in consistant but enough to grab 2nd for the States in 21.5. Also found that my uber expensive R1 Wurks Lipo was a slug as well, looking back at the times I found:

18.6 - FR-1 and Nanotech 7500
18.8 - FR1 and R1 Wurks Lipo
18.9 - Motiv and Nanotech
19.3 - Motiv and R1 Wurks Lipo

To be fair, the Motiv had good punch and probably be a great motor for a tight carpet track, but for a large outdoor track, it's just not in the game. Biggest disappointment was the R1 Wurks 7600mah 90C Lipo by far. Ran better times with 3 month old Nanotechs.

So food for thought.

Good info here.... I watched all of Nick Adams' videos on YouTube, and he reached the same conclusion on both the 7500 nanotech ultimate/graphene packs, and the fantom motors(although he tested the 17.5t motors)....

I agree on you with the nanotech ultimates. They are all I run. For some reason they put out good power against some of the name brands.
As for the motiv, its good for a tight to med carpet tracks.
