Cool gearing help

i have a 12 turn motor in my traxxes bandit. i was told i am way over geared cuse i am burning up my motor and batterys. i want to no wut way i need to go ont he spur gears. i was told to drop a few teeth on the pionion gear. i have a 26 tooth pionion gear in there now. and a 78 tooth spur gear. how many should i go down on the pionion gear and what way should i go on the spur gear and how many. or should i just change one of the gears?

you should run 22 or 23 with that motor ,, should be just right with a 23 .. also keep track of run time and motor temp ...

I have no idea what to suggest for a gear ratio as I don't own a Bandit, but you could always try the offroad or even the Official Traxxas Forums.
