1 cell F1RULES?

I they are breaking parts all the time, they better off buying an Xray X1.
I'm not joking
These things aren't going fast enough to break lots of parts

Hey I have an idea...lets divide a growing, popular class to fit the idealist views of a minority. 1S doesn't save anyone a damn dime. You need specific speed controls and different batteries. An F1 car shouldn't be super easy to drive. Its why I race only F1 nowadays. Get a 4WD touring car if you want something easier to drive. I want power and torque, I want to be able to lose rear traction with too much throttle, I want normal electronics that I can buy at my hobby store.
I tried to run an F1 car on 1S once. It was boring as hell. None of the 1S cars would be TCS legal (not that its a major problem). Why can't we just leave well enough alone? If you want to run 1S, run a damn 12th scale.

My issue with the 1s and 2s rules for F1 is parity. It's hard enough to keep things level when using just one spec. Trying to make both sets of power systems equal will prove to be impossible. Why does the 1s setup get a 100g weight break? And will this favor the 1s cars on certain tracks and grip levels? Do the 2s setups have an advantage on other tracks?
How did the '100g' weight break come about? Just a SWAG? Or does this end up being a constant back and forth between the two camps trying to figure out what is parity? No matter what is decided, somebody is going to be ticked off and unhappy.
What I see happening is the serious guys having to invest in BOTH setups to try and figure out which is best in the conditions in which they race.

Parity: One race, you choose your setup. 2S should win. What's your downside? Losing to an inferior setup? No one said split the class yet everyone who jumps on insists that there is some subversive motive for running them together. If you lose it's because you didn't practice enough, got the setup wrong or you just had a bad day.
I raced 2S 21.5 F1. I still would but, 21.5 killed the class in Madison. We couldn't get most the field to finish any given race due to breakage. Multiply that by heats and mains and we probably had 25% out of each run. Now my cars sit on the shelf because no one wants to spend money on parts and pipe ripped rubber tires. So I tested. You can still kick the rear out. The car is just as fast on the top end. It is not as easy to get the car to jerk sideways in the middle of a straight left into a pipe or the guy next to you when you apply max throttle. Besides the problem is from a dead stop on initial throttle or very slow corner to high speed that is the control issue.
Any LHS can get 1S gear pretty easily if you choose to run it. 1S is run in 17.5 12th, 10.5 12th, 13.5 12th, Mod 12th, Spec 17.5, WGT 13.5, WGT Pro, in the US, Europe and Asia. Not including GT12 13.5 in Europe. Soon to be in Pan Rubber Tire Sedans in Asia. All Pan cars. What is an F1?
TCS has only adopted 21.5 and rubber in the last couple years, before that it was Mabuchi and foam tires only for all F1 cars at the national level. The cars were much more drivable with Silver cans running on 7.2V NiMH.

Thanks, John. It's always nice to get some context during these discussions. I'm new to the RC racing scene (started in 2014) but am not a newbie to racing and its rules making process and politics. 40 years of racing with the SCCA has made me a little skeptical. lol... I don't know the history of the various RC classes, and it certainly helps frame how we got to where we are now.
Making the cars easier to drive certainly would help draw and retain new F1 racers. 1S is certainly one option. I saw that UF1 Midwest is going to 25.5 motors to try and accomplish a similar outcome.
Either way, I've fallen in love with the F1 cars and will race whatever rules package is necessary.

I can use large font and colors too. How exactly is this off topic from the discussion?
If most of the field can't finish due to breakage, then they need to work on driving skills and car setup. I've been racing the same F104 for almost 5 years and can count broken parts on one hand.
The F1 racing in Madison a couple years ago was some of the best I've ever seen or had the priveledge of participating in. F1 and open wheels isn't for everyone.

Most racers race local and if the local promoter allows 1s f1 to race with 2s f1 that is the way things change 1s may never be allowed at bigger races but at local venue's 1s may be very viable in any club or LHS racing the object of the game is to have growing the racers in the classes they are running if you are losing racers before they can work on there"Driving skills" that doesn't grow the class. So if you have the skill to put in fast laps and win races using 2s more power too you, many of us are racing for fun so the better the racing experience for more racers is my goal.
I can only effect my local racing and I startled this thread to find out if there were 1s F1 rules and there are I believe our club is going to implement 1s or 2s F1 racing we are trying it out for our summer series with 1 or 2 cars seeing if the racing is close and tweak the weight and gearing to keep the 1s cars to not be faster then the 2s cars. From what I see from 1 race using 1s cars will not be faster but will turn more consistent lap time then 2s cars will the lap times of both cars are very close last week within .2. That is one race it may turn out 1s may blow 2s into the weeds after a little development that is what racing is about is tinkering fiddling with the car to get it to fit what you as a driver can get it to do.
