New Graphite Hubs:
Xray have recently released some additional Graphite hubs for the T4 lineup. The 4° Graphite C-Hub has been out for some time and is known to improve steering on entry, and in general makes the car turn better. This has been the go-to c-hub on asphalt for many on the Xray team, though it is not needed on high bite carpet. The Graphite rear hub tends to make the car more stable, especially on corner entry. We are still working on gathering input on the new Graphite steering block, but for the moment feel that it should improve steering response. All Graphite parts are approximately 1g lighter than the Hard or Medium options.

Option Parts to consider:
XRA301196 T4 Graphite Upper Deck 1.6mm V2
XRA301226 Foam Bumper – Hard - highly recommend

XRA305137 Steel Solid Axle Driveshaft Adapters - HUDY Spring Steel - highly recommend
XRA305242 Composite Drive Shaft Replacement Cap 3.5mm – Orange – Strong (QTY 4)

It wont protect the bearing so much as protectthe two bearings from colapsing together when you torque the wheel nuts. in a crash all the force will still be pushing on the inner race. the nt1 axle or serpents axles are a little better in this regard as its not possible to compress the bearings with them.

Just wondering what is this for? I remembered seeing this on my former TRF419 which I never bothered to install. If it is to protect - wouldn't it be even worst?

Had my t4 out for the first time on track yesterday. had to add 60 grams of weight and balance her. was chasing a skidish car but was tires, changed those and the car was immediately better.
car was already on the pace when i set it down, but made a few changes for our 100x40ft ozite hd track.
went to 25-28 progressives in the front and 1.3 bar. also pushed the front arms all the way back, leaving the rear arms stock. the setup is box stock aside from those. maybe a little less droop. i tend to measure it ORH but typically 2.5 mm f/r. i try to avoid dissimilar settings front/rear whenever possible.
on a practice night with no heat on in the facility, i was able to run the fastest lap for touring stock on the current layout. this weekend at club racing ill be trying to get the car into 1/12 13.5 territory. obviously not as fast as the top cars but certainly within range of the middle ground cars.

im certainly not the best in my club, but i do alright against those team xray guys

I know my question sounds naive but is there a major difference between the T4 '16 and the T4 '14. I am relatively new and probably won't be as competitive. I just want to pick up an T4 and give it a try.

I would try and get a 15 if you can swing it.

I did extensive research before I bought my t4 16.
14 and 16 have different :
1. Sway bar mount, 16 sway bar mount has bearings, while 14 has the "traditional" mounting solution.
2. 16 could use active rear suspension, it is not widely used from what I see, but it is good to have that option.
3. I believe 16 has less max steering throw for higher comer speed compared to 14. I had a trf 419, and you will notice the t4 has less steering throw right away. The 419, imo, has way too much steering for my liking.

I think above all was all that matters to me. There is some other minor things I can't think of right now.
Dude, you should get a 15 or 16. You will be amazed.
Owing Tamiya is expensive, lol, I break at least 10 pairs of c hub after owning 419 for 2 month. While I only broke 1 c hub with my X-ray during 1 month ownership.
Not to mention, I was instantly faster with t4 on our track.

The '14 is an excellent car (a huge improvement over the original T4). The 15/16 have some nice features like ball-bearing rollbars, but nothing that makes a big difference to performance. I actually found the '14 a bit more consistent as it has a slightly wider chassis.

So if you can get a '14 at a decent price go for it.

One of the best features of the '16, and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned, is that it comes with ECS' in the kit.

That's exactly why I'm getting a '16.

I have a 14 and a 16, I think my 14 is the better car for some reason.. Not quite sure why

ECS is a must, I have been thinking of buying either another set of 14 or 16 bulkhead caps to share the roll center adjustments because they are pretty different.

The motor mount is different as well, designed with different flex that I haven't quite learned yet.

I'd imagine you can find a 14 car fairly cheap.. its hard to reason a 16 having both

I agree.

When I first got my T4 2016 I put the kit setup on it as I always do with a new Xray car, but for the first time I didn't like it at all. Once I put my 2014's setup on my 16 it was night and day better, however the feel is different. Not necessarily in a bad way but I still feel more comfortable with the 14. I don't have a ton of track time on the 2016 though either so that may change. Both cars are still more then capable but the ECS shafts in the 2016 kit is hard to pass up.
