Why don't you sand the mount pedestal down? Make it shorter. The rc monster mount is meant for larger speed run motors. If you want you can send the mount to me and I will machine it shorter for you on the mill so it is same height. I make several motor mounts here for the MGt7 and we typically keep the drive train close to the same level so there is no excessive pinion angle. You can email me at tjscustomrcs using gmail if you want and discuss taking a few thousandths off to level it out. I presume you have both halves to address the height issue or the spool would be crooked. We can set it at stock height or make a new one altogether. The top center mount (motor over spur) we make only leaves the motor an inch off the chassis. Enough room for the center shaft to clear and then the chassis brace is made to attach to the top of the motor mount. Keeps everything balanced and for those doing speed runs they can use batteries on each side of the chassis plate. Those racing have a better balanced setup for the track. You have lots of options with a one off custom shop like ours.

I just got myself a Mugen MGT7 eco and started to wonder how big of a pinion i can use with the stock 44T diff and motormount. Can anyone tell me something about it?
I'm not into speedruns, its only meant for on-track racing.

Not sure what the biggest is, but within a tooth or two of what came with the car is more than adequate for on-road racing. I went down a tooth with a 2050kv motor and 4s battery. Check out the setups I posted earlier here. My friend from Brownville came up to NControl in Austin and did very well with that setup until he broke a wheel in the mail.

just curious of how you guys are measuring droop for this car I bought the Hudy blocks and droop guage but they are the large ones said for 1/8 scale buggy( too large) I used to have smaller ones when I had my 1/8 scale Evolva would those work need to get accurate settings for droop. we run a organized street course her in Northern Virginia. My car is leaning a lot in the corners and slowng me down gotta try something

25T pinion does not fit.. I can get it in but there is too less room to set a good mesh.. Now hoping a 24T pinion will give enough room for a decent mesh and will work..
Top speed would be about the same with a 24T pinion as the spur is 44T where i was used to 46T on the RB.
46/25=1,84

Just wondering what track you run your car on with a 25 tooth pinion? Stock is an 18 tooth and that was plenty for most big 1/8th scale tracks (e.g., now closed Brownsville) and even then they were only using ~80% of the 2600KV motor and were as fast or faster than the Nitro cars.
Top speed with this setup is a theoretical 115kilometers an hour
Equals 71 mph:
2600kv = 2600 tpm /V
2600 x 14,8 = 38480 tpm
Spur 44T Pinion 25T:
38480/44 x 25 = 21863 tpm center drive shaft
FR-Diff spur 42T Pinion 13T:
21863/42 x 13 = 6767 tpm wheel axel
Wheel diameter 9cm
Outline 9 x pi = 28,27cm
6767 x 28,27 = 191332 cm/min
191332/100= 1913M/min
1913 / 60 = 31,89M/sec
31,89 x 3,6 = 114,8km/uur
Theoretical top speed 114,8kph

Hey all, i am a new here .I preordered mgt7 and will use for speed runs.I see the most efficient way to get better stability i need to convert convert differential to spool and i have some questions.
1:the motor shaft size matters ?if yes whatsize shaft do i need the 5mm or the 8mm ?
3: Do i need a electric mount like rcmonster one or stock does good?
2: I think i need 8 mm revo spur adapter for the shaft to use different spurs and i wonder do i have to get 2 spur adapters one of motor and 1 more shaft?
3:I read i need to use 2speed shaft from nitro model,do some modification and then get a 110mm dogbone from hpi vorza for center because the stock one is short.
4:I see there is already 32-35mm speed shaft from rcmonster
Will this also fit other than getting nitro 2speed shaft
5:After the conversion should i look for revo spurs for both motor and shaft like 37t/29s?

I've been running the MGT7 eco for a year now but keep having problem with the center cvd's.. As you all might know, the pin in the cvd is held on it position by a set screw.. My cvd's tend to get a lil hot during racing which causes the locktide to get softer and the set screw to losen up a bit. This causes the pin to come out and i loose tracktion.. Happens almost every race once.. Is there another center system available or do any of you guys know a center driveline that fits? The Xray GTX8 seems better (pin kept in place by a metal ring) but will it fit..?
