depends on what you mean by affordable??

what calliber of car are you reffering too? a full out racing chassis only for comparason? or an ready to run kit type setup for comparison. there are alot of variables not stipulated that need clarification for a just answer.

any xray fk05, corally rdx, tamiya evos and 415, yokomo sd and bd, hot bodies cyclone or hpi pro 4 i'm sure i missed many.... there are so many to list... prices would vary from $500 to $700au for the chassis kit only for these cars.

all of them are just as capable as winning as the other, its just the bloke at the end of radio that makes the difference and what you know about how to make them go that seperates them from each other. there are many drivers that could swap cars and still be on top, and everyone follows like sheep its really funny

One of the cheapest TC's that is competative I think is the FT TC4 or the JRSX.

They seem to have to low price section. The FT TC4 has most of the bells and whisels that you are going to want anyway. So for the price I think it is the most capable car for the $$$.
Now for a car that comes with every hop up on it and doesn't need anything besides springs to make it fast is the COrally RDX...but it is a bit more expencive.
But honestly get a car that is well supported by your Local Hobby SHop, this will really help.

Any car you feel is in your price range ..And if parts support is at your LHS . Or you dont mind ordering on line .. So the choise is yours .. There are alot of cars to choose from.. Ready to run kits or Full on race kits ... still your decision ....

Tamiya TL01 would be a very cheap touring car...Thought its not that competative.

if on a budget the pro4, tc4 and yokomo sd are good cars that are right now cheap, but all those cars could come in different forms that are in the $300ish range. pro4=hara pro4, 2005 spec pro4 (I believ only in Japan though), tc4=FT TC4, yokomo sd= CGM, SD black, SSG, LCG, Rayspeed. All these cars are shaft. Most belt cars are really up there in $. The xray is $360, but that's because xray basically made the kit as affordable as possible it's atleast another $100 to get it running.

For a mid end tourer - I would suggest the Tamiya TA-05 or TB-02. These are very affordable in Asia and are solid performers out of the box.

I would buy an old TC3.....there's one on rctech for $100 that's a steal of a car.

Anyone will tell you the TC3 is a sledgehammer but is very competitive

If we see Marc Rheinard swapping his 415 MSX for a TA-05, then we'll know whats faster !

Bang for buck, The TA-05 is a great car but its not quite a 415.
