TB EVO Series experts advice
Hi all,
I've been very involved with building out Mini-zs (my only on road exp.) & 1/10 Shortcourse kits (Proline, Tekno, LOSI)
I've been wanting to build a TB EVO 6 and have seen that the transverse motor mount is a bit of a downside?
Any advice on this class before I make the purchase?
Am I going to want aftermarket/upgraded servos, motors etc. as I do with the Short Course truck builds? I spent almost double the amount of the truck in option parts for my Tekno SCT410
I just figured this was the most hopped up out of the box and coming from shaft driven trucks, I would like to go the TB route unless there is compelling evidence from you guys as to why I should not. I have loved Tamiya as a model builder over the years ---I'm set on that manufacturer, just looking for thoughts on the EVO 6 I guess, vs other TB EVOs like the IV (which I saw in the box new on ebay)

The TB Evo 6 chassis comes in kit form only with no electronics, body, wheels or tires. The transverse motor mount helps improve the handling by reducing torque steer (can occur with longitudinal mounted motor designs), however this means more drive train parts which reduces efficiency.
I believe the Tamiya TRF419 is a better option than the TB Evo 6 for a variety of reasons including smoother drive train, easier to build, easy to balance and more refined design. Having said that, the TB Evo 6 is still a great car if you really want a TB EVO series car
