They also still have Groskamp don't they?

My guess is they really want to put an end to the Matsukura/Volker/Yokomo win fest that's been going on.

Plus, Tamiya's big dogs aren't Japanese, Matsukura is.

There biggest "star" in Japan has been Maezumi, and whilst solid he has never been top shelf.

I wonder if this means the end of MS issue cars?

Dunno about the complexity of the contracts either. But, not like volker or MR do anything other than TC..... Seems to vary a lot. Hagberg does nitro and EP TC, so does Groskamp. NM EP off and on-road. And then Hara does pretty much everything!

Hard to say also. They decided after 2013 worlds to completely pull the pin with off-road. Lee Martin gone and MR stopped doing the very few off-road races he did.

There is a real mix of contracts it seems - some race only, where as others are in R&D etc and some work for distributors etc in their home countries.

:yup: could well be the theory!

Might also be that he has signed for TC now and the others are wait and see - if the new TRF 1/12th comes like is rumoured, he could sign for that too. 1/12th is a bit of an odd one - it's not run anywhere near as often with the same amount of exposure (well, not in Europe anyway)

Yokomo had him and Volker plus Prumper etc - same same really.

In japan - most definitely. Been a while since Tamiya didn't turn up to events with the current world champ. Maybe that upset them!

Yeah, but, he races so little for them these days - only the big events really - and does more nitro running in SE Asia then EP. Also rumours he is on the way out - but one of the sources of that rumour said NM was safe as houses at Yokomo!

He is unlikely to be hitting the like button on FB anytime soon I expect

So Kyosho for offroad and Tamiya for TC, so that just leaves the question now of which 1/12th scale will he be racing.

This pretty much seals the fate of Tamiya's off-road program.

I think the fate was sealed quite a while ago.

Maybe in Europe they had something but Tamiya off road in America hasn't been relevant for ages.

Bummer to see him not give TRF off road a try but wow he will be deadly with Kyosho one would think. They have great off road buggies.

You never know, it may have been a completely non commercial decision - trial out all the cars and decide which one he got on with/was fastest with and choose that way.

However, completely unsurprised he has stuck with Japanese companies so far to be honest.

Thus He would be happy and earn lots of money.

I'm quoting my post dated 22 December 2014....

I've made 2 correct predictions so far.......

How is Naoto going with his new Tamiya? He didn't make the A-Final at TITC.
What happened? Wrong setup?

I was at the event racing in the mod class as well. All the tamiya cars looked slow compared to the Xray's, Yokomo's and ARC's which were clearly the quickest all week.

Were results posted anywhere in English? I believe it's posted somewhere but it appears to be in Japanese or Chinese (I can't tell the difference between the two character sets).
