Default ORCA vs Hobbywing

I'm torn between these 2 right now for my next esc. If you have run both, which one feels better?

I would say, go with the one most people have in your local track to save you trouble finding it's setting.

Both are great

Hobbywing

There is great support from hobby wing here on the forum as well as posted setups for different motors/track types by pro drivers.

I really like my v3.1

Both of these companies' ESCs are pretty much the ones to have right now. Feel is 100% subjective. Go with whatever you want.

I chose Hobbywing for the ease of progrmming, but that being said, I don't know how easy the ORCAs are to program.

Being able to adjust the feel of everything on the orca is awesome. I am 110% satisfied with mine.

First race with the ORCA and it blew me away. Easy to program easy to set to your radio and super smooth. Glad I made the change.

Hands down the orca is the esc to have . Easy to program and has the most linear feel out of any esc out there. Oh yea and its fast!

I own both.
Spent the first 1/4 of the indoor season with the v3 then switched to the Orca.
For my needs (17.5 touring stock)...the Orca is slightly better.
Brakes feel better and the motor comes off slightly cooler.

Can't go wrong with either one though.

Out of all the ESCs out there, are these two the best? What would say are the top 3?

If I were adding another esc to the mix it would probably be the Orion R10. And it really isnt all that different than the hobbywing.

I have not ran any hobby wing speedo's in TC but I have ran a 1S speedo in 12th scale. On the track they feel really really close but the Orca I feel has slightly better bottom end. Throttle is very linear on both models and easy to drive unlike some of the on/off switch speedo's out there. The orca doesnt require a receiver pack in 1S either.

On the 2S side I know the ORCA is the smoothest speedo Ive ran (Although I have not ran a HW 2S speedo). It is easier to adjust than others. All the mod, boosted and Blinky software is built in and no need to upload new soft ware when switching from one class to another. Just use the small program box and its all there in a matter of seconds.

I know Ralph Burch had some issues with his speedo this week at the Paved nats and it thermaling as many mod guys did. He switched out for an ORCA and went on to TQ the race and never had any thermal issues again. He was very happy with it and is going to keep running it.

Josh Cyrul TQ'd 13.5 Sedan with the ORCA in his car as well and also never thermaled his in Mod TC all weekend running a 4.5 motor.

I know a lot of guys at the Paved nats ran the HW as well and never had any issues. It was other brands having issues even in 13.5....a lot of the newest ones were thermaling and taken out of their cars.

Cant go wrong with either HW or the Orca in my opinion.
