Default MTS FF Pro

Nothing happening here? A well then news from R.S.A. The MTS was the winner in SARDA FWD class for 2015. I ended up 4th in the championship with my MTS basically still stock out of the box, havent found the need to change the setup alot as the car is so sorted, just my driving that sucks

Default Setup

Has anyone run the car in Short wheelbase configuration? The reason fot this is that I want to run a Montech Renault body and the rear wheel cutouts is too far forward to my liking. What effect will this have on handling?

Has anyone changed the front hubs, knuckles and cvd to Xray? I am wondering how you like it and how much tougher is it?

I just changed, arms(t4 2013) out and inside(t4 2013) pins, pivot balls and ball joints.
1.0, 1.1, 1.3, 1.5 roll bar too, rear use old version, front can use old and new, but new bars is better to added 2 aluminium stoppers, i use small ones of hpi.

About metal gear diff and gear diff cover not sure.

I suggest not change diff outdrive, knuckle, rear hub, c hub, cvd for keeping car design.

Shock , i use yokomo short ones, front use full shorts, rear use short body but normal shaft

I keep breaking c hubs and knuckles, so I want to change them to Xray. I have already swapped the arms and pins to Xray.

Breaking?
I could tell you i just broke 1 knuckle in 17.5 blinky race.
Sincerely i saw many people around me, even whenever i was in Japan, people keep majority the car with original parts, even don't change diff oil.

You can try change chub and knuckle since you are using xray arm.
But not sure how the car handling would be affected.
But, possibly you need to use entire xray diff, but not sure if can swap xray diff outdrives on MTS diff, since you need to remember of MTS axle drive shaft run thinner pin.

Talking

My post appears to have gotten eaten... Anyway, out of curiosity, how well would the MTS FF fair with a modified motor?

Now that I'm living back in Hong Kong (was in UK for +15 years)... and an RC hiatus of ~20 years(! ... had an Associated RC10 Team and Schumacher Nitro Truggy), didn't realise TC are so big over here, not to mention there are 3 tracks within 30 minutes of where I live... would be pretty cool to support a "local" manufacturer (they are probably actually manufactured across the Chinese border in Shenzhen... like everything else!).

I've always preferred the simplicity of 2WD, and with 2WD buggies mostly going mid-motor (lookin' at you, RC10B5M), guess 2WD-TC should indeed be front-motored. The stock motor classes look super planted and the idler pulley options for 18t or 20t, should be able to get a final drive ratio low enough for 5.5t or hotter motors... gotta go fast!

Will probably have a stock 13.5t and run it blinky if I ever bother to go racing with it.

Run the stock 13.5 motor(no boost!) and gear the car to 4.3FDR. Mine is pretty fast and controlable. This is the max gearing allowed in South Africa so the competition is pretty tight.

I emailed Race Opt as the "current" FF is out of stock everywhere in Hong Kong... apparently the new FF will be ready middle of April... so just 6 weeks.

This new car is not for carpet run, due the battery cannot put in front rear position, and best to run high traction should use entire upper deck.

So I have decided to try a longitudinal layout of the battery making new CF clips, and utilising excisting holes drilled in the chassis.

I had to remove a couple of posts and raised the top deck by 0.8 mm.
The car felt much better on the track and I could actually "ride" the kerbs better than in the standard layout. Through switching corners the car is planted like never before.Thought I`d share this.
