Default 2015 Canadian On-Road Nationals

Were getting close to Christmas and the new year which also means we're a little over 3 months away from the 2015 Canadian On-Road Nationals. Registration is coming along nicely for most classes, but we'll need more in others if we are going to keep them on the schedule. As of right now, the classes are as follows:

Touring Stock = 25
Touring Superstock = 19
Touring Open = 12
Canadian Vintage Trans-Am = 20
Can-Am GT (AKA USGT) = 11
World GT = 2
1:12 Stock = 5
1:12 Superstock = 1
Canadian Formula 1 = 4
Mini Sport = 6

To ensure that each class will run in the 2015 event we have put a minimum limit of 10 paid entries per class by the end of January. That still puts several classes at risk of not running if we don't meet that limit. registrations alone won't lock in the class. We need 10 of them to be paid for. This minimum cap is in place to ensure we have plenty of time to make up the trophies and stickers required for each class. That leaves 46 days to secure those classes. The Touring car classes are looking good so far, as well as CVTA which is traditionally our second largest class. Can-Am GT is looking promising, with a few clubs closest to us picking up this class on a weekly bases. The rest of the classes need a boost. I've been hearing some interest in F1, but without paid registrations it could be in jeopardy. I believe Mini will make the cut, but it's got a slow start so far as well as 1:12 Stock. With more classes this year than any of our previous years, it's time to choose your classes and help make this years event the best one yet.

The Digital Detail shop is ramping up for the 6th year of racing in the Seaway Mall. Car number stickers have been designed. Unique wheel dots for the touring car spec tires have been designed and test samples have been made. Trophies are in the early stages of the design process. We're ready to race and can't wait for another fun race (extented) race weekend.

Mini rules update. After a discussion on Facebook and talking to some drivers through email, we will be tweaking the Mini battery rules for this years event. The battery limit will now be 5000 mAh for LiPo cells. Check out the rules page linked on the main website page at www.conrc.com for more details.

25 days until the earlybird deadline. Have your payment in by the end of January to get in Thursday Practice the week of the event for free. You also get your choice of car number (first choice goes to first paid). Entries after the Earlybird deadline will be charged $10 for practice on Thursday and will have a car number assigned to you.

Really nice to see some big names signed up early this year.

Paul Lemieux - Back for his second time at our crazy mall race. He signed up really early. Guess he enjoyed it last year.
Keven Hebert - Team Associated
Andrew Hardman - Team Yokomo
Martin Crisp - Mr. Setup. Seems to be the only race he comes out of semi-retirement for
Brian Wynn - dumper signed up for 7 classes. lol. He needs some more guys to join him in 13.5 12th scale and WGT.
Rob Say - current 17.5 TC Canadian national champ
Eric Epp - Mr. Protoform junior, flying in from Cali. Awesome dude and getting faster on the track every time I see him.
Abiye Birku - Very fast Team Tamiya offroad driver. I think this is his first big onroad trophy race.

Me - lol. I haven't missed this race since 2011, which was my first big trophy race ever. I love it. How often do you get to race in the middle of a shopping mall? Once a year, that's how often.

Get signed up everyone. Obviously you don't need to be Canadian. Everyone is welcome.

Hello,

What are the chances of you getting a full heat or WGT cars this year? looking back over the results from previous years looks like the class has always ran with at least 1 to 2 heats?

How many do you need for it to run?

Thanks

Mike mentioned in the 2nd post that the minimum number needed is 10 by the end of January for the class to stay. Currently 2 signed up for WGT.

In previous years there were always a few local guys racing WGT, but no one is racing it locally anymore.

Would be awesome if you can make the trip Korgae. I know you're one of the fastest west coast guys. Would be really great if you and Blake Bell could make it to this race.

I think the cut off date is a little early to be honest, but I totally understand the need for it as well... I think there was only one heat of WGT last year and it wasn't quite a full heat, and I think a majority of the racers weren't local either. Would be great to see some of the WCICS regulars make it to this race though!

Hey guys!

Considering coming out to the race and was looking through your approved motors and ESC lists and noticed the new ORCA VX3 ESC and RX3 motors are not on your lists. Just wondering if they will be added?

Good question Luke. I have a couple of VX3 ESCs and currently an RX3 in my mod TC. The VX3 should be fine, because those are on ROAR's approved list. My 4.5 RX3 should be fine, because the rules for mod just say "Any brushless motor (540 size can)".

The stock spec RX3 motors aren't on ROAR's approved list yet, even though I heard they had passed inspection a while ago. So that would be up to the race organizers if they want to add them. I'm curious about this too.

Update:
ORCA VX3 ESC and RX3 motors have been added to the lists
