Default What if......R/C Olympics

Teams by country, not manufacturer.
Classes:
Onroad
1/12 Mod
Mod TC
Stock TC (13.5)
1/8 Open (nitro)
1/10 TC (nitro)
**plus one specialty class**

Offroad
Mod Buggy
4wd buggy
Stock Truck
1/8 Buggy
1/8 Truggy
**plus one specialty class**

Pick your drivers, specialty class, and what country do you think would win.

Interesting concept for sure. I would question the degree of global interest in this hobby to warrant such a spot in the olympics. —yet, I've seen plenty of obscure sports make the cut.

I don't think he meant the actual Olympics.

I'd just copy and paste IFMAR Worlds results. I'm not sure on the stocks classes though. That depends on the surface. Stock TC probably someone from Europe, especially if raced on asphalt. Stock truck (is this stadium truck?). No idea, maybe someone from the States'. If medals were averaged Europe would take the win. If countries were averaged, I'd biasedly pick the States'. I'd pick Naoto for the overall win on a battle royale of all classes.

Yeah, not an actual olympic event. IFMAR rules for sure. I think Stock TC would be our best showing for onroad. Stock truck, would be "stadium truck". I think that the US would balance out in offroad. The kicker would be that you could only have a ten person (maximum) team, and they must compete in all the events. Here's my US picks:
1. Ralph Burch
2. Paul Lemieux
3. Jared Tebo
4. Ryan Cavalieri
5. Ryan Maifield
6. Josh Cyrul
7. Paolo Morganti
8. Dustin Evans
9. Mike Swauger
10. TBD

Try to get a US driver to win the Ifmar Worlds instead of inventing categories so the US can win something meaningful !!! Ok....wow.....

Americans have won plenty of IFMAR championships. Across all classes which declare an IFMAR champion, Americans have 35 wins. The only categories never won by an american are 1/5 scale and 190mm electric touring car. America is not starved for world champions.

Hey now. Don't go bringing things like facts into this, DesertRat.

In Rick and Bert's defense, Electric TC is the only class that really matters.

I would not say it's the only class that matters, but it's the top of all the Ifmar Worlds you can win... Masami killed himself to win it, and could not pull it off. It is the most prestigious of all the titles, and the few racers that have pulled it off are on another level... As of today America has not even come close. America is in the same boat as BERT, but hopeful...lol ....

Not "inventing" a category at all. Just having fun with an idea. BTW, past US IFMAR Champs:
2010 Ralph Burch 200mm IC
2011 Ryan Cavalieri 2WD & 4WD
2013 Jared Tebo 2WD
2013 Steven Hartson

Boats, planes and helis must also be included, as well as large scale and maybe crawlers. And freestyle big air to please the crowd.

The Olympics are dominated by a single event: the 100m dash !
Rc racing is also dominated by a single event: the Istc Ifmar Worlds ! Anything else is just entertainment...lol...

RC already has it own overblown, over budget, over hyped version of the Olympics, the IFMAR worlds (pick a class). Just like the Olympics, a week after it's over no one cares....
Everyone needs to talk about making club racing big again instead of another "Big" event that doesn't help the hobby.
