Default back to TC. What do i want, whats happened?

I am back to touring car's from a long break.

I used to run a pro 2 doing parking lot racing awhile back. Now I get o line to look at picking up a new TC and find all sorts of stuff I am clueless about.

Will be running on carpet, and I will not be spending 400 bucks out of the gate on a chassis.

Don't make this a he said she said bull$*** - great line from a great band from the last time I ran Onroad. (Limp bizkit for all of you youngins.) But seriously let me have some good facts here.

Need durability first and foremost!
Xray, yokomo, AE, Schumacher, etc???? As I see losi is out of on road now.

I think there are a few threads about this so here goes another one.

Get the car that the majority are running at your track. Parts and support is most important. All the top companies are good these days and this thread will become 10 pages of why one is better than the other and you will never get a good answer.

Xray, Yokomo, Schumacher, all are going to cost closer to $500 for their top of the line chassis.

Your best bet is probably going to be either buy something used, or go with a different brand like

TOP Racing:http://www.amain.com/TOP-Racing-Prod...ar-Kit/p243493

or 3Racing Sakura line:http://www.rcmart.com/sakura-ultimat...cPath=420_1417

The new Durango TC is just under $400:http://www.amain.com/Team-Durango-DE...ar-Kit/p276500

I guess the AE FT TC6.2 isn't much over $400:http://www.amain.com/Team-Associated...ar-Kit/p271702. Get some coupon codes and you'll be at or just under $400.

TC isn't the cheap class to race like it used to be, depending on how long you've been out of it. The good old days of buying a TC3 Racer kit for under $150 and being able to race at the top level of competition are long over.

I guess I was looking more at the mi1, bd7 rs, even tamiya tb04... Along those lines. It is a brand new shop opening up, not sure what they will carry?

Are these cars like they used to be, belts and arms for spares and your good?

^ This . . . . .

Buying used is a good option, but having bought a cheap car in the past I can firmly say it's a pay now or pay later . . .and if you want to actually enjoy running tc, spending a little more up front is a wise idea (or buy used). Now is a good time because there are lots of people dumping last years models (T4, BD7, 418).

^ I agree. I bought a Sakura zero to run a cheap car in vta. The car was not worth the shipping charges. All the shocks leaked the oil out within 5 minutes of building them. The plastic is complete garbage.

You get what you pay for. Especially from the cars that are all made in china.

Absolutely horrid band...

But as far as your question about getting a durable chassis goes, and not spending a lot, I'd go with a used Xray, a T3 2012 would be a good choice. Easy to drive, tank-like, great parts support, you name it. If new is a must, I'd maybe look at Sakura. They do pretty well at the club level, and are certainly well priced. Just make sure it's one of the newer versions. The older cars weren't very good.

Spec-R is an option as well.

Oh, you're new... don't listen to bert, you'll thank me. He would tell you to get a TC4 with a 2.5T Novak motor.

Anyways, a good used TC is excellent value since we are in the generation now of having to have the latest (I'm guilty of this too). X-rays tend to make great used cars since they are super durable and don't wear as fast as other cars.

If your looking under the $400 range, then there is almost nothing new thats worth a damn as far as tunability, support, durability, ect ect. Look forna good used t4 13/14, vbc D06, even a good used AE6.2. Those are the three top choices for carpet. You can cheap out and get the low grade stuff new, but you wont be happy. I did that the the VBC Ghost. New, its $280. Ive now upgraded every part so that its a full carbon chassis/towers with the D06 steering and shocks. It would have been soooooooo much cheaper to keep my D05 and just get shorter towers and the 06 shocks.

What are you looking at for electronics if your trying to stay budget oriented? Oh and dont forget to add a $85 (used) transponder to the list. Everyone always leaves that off and I dont know why. Its THE one item none of us can race without and there is no arguing which is better. They only make one.

Just don't pair it to a Tekin esc, it won't work apparently. Just sayin'

If going just a smidge past $400 is possible... the ARC R10 is a killer chassis for the price.
