My curiosity after seeing the 1/12 cars got the best of me and I ordered up 2015 x12.
I need some help choosing electronics for it. I see people like the futaba 9650 servo. Is a Savox ok? I just have a bunch of other Savox already.
1 cell esc?
1 cell batteries? Maybe a dumb question but can I use half a saddle pack?
Any input would be greatly appreciated

Most use futaba since it's cheap and a good servo. As long as the savox is a mini you'll be fine. Match up the specs.
12th scale is ran using 1 cell packs.

Servos - Buy the Futaba 9650. Excellent servo for 1/12 - they don't get much better when it comes to accuracy and reliability, which is really important in 1/12 racing. If you already have the Savox servo, by all means use it, but the 9650 is one of the best options.

ESCs offer a lot of options - Orca and Hobbywing make 1S ESCs, other ESCs designed for 2S use can be used in conjunction with a voltage booster (more convenient) or a receiver pack (more weight, but more reliable). Personally, I prefer the receiver pack over the booster - when using a receiver pack, make sure that you set the ESC to operate in a 1-cell mode, or remove the red lead from the connector going to the receiver.

Batteries - there are many choices for 1S batteries, with no real standouts. Look for good capacity (7000mah is the norm nowadays), and pick up the battery of your choice. Stick to batteries using 4mm bullets, as space underneath the body of any 1/12 car is at a premium. Use low-profile solid bullets when wiring the ESC for best results. Using 1/2 a saddle pack, while physically possible in most cases, won't fit in the car properly and isn't recommended.

Tire truer is a "must-have" item in 1/12. Ofna makes an affordable manually operated truer with more than enough power to get the job done. Add a CRC "All in 1" truer adapter, and you'll be in business.

I have an orca esc and a viper. Both rated for 2 cell. Can you recommend a voltage booster to use? I'd prefer to not but a new esc but I want it to be correct also. If a new esc is the better option than that's what I'll do.

When I used boosters, I used the TQ Racing booster - you'll have to order direct from the manufacturer to obtain one, but they were the best choice of the boosters that were readily available:

I'm leaning towards getting a 1s esc. Trying to find an orca but they're hard to come by. Thanks for all the help so far

There is also Team Orion Vortex R10 Pro 1-2S version that works really well with 1S. It is small and lightweight. Hobbywing has V3.1 1S (only 1S) also, as also V2 120A 1S (big and heavy but works good).

Hobbywing 1s 3.1 and get the program box and for battery SMC has what you want and use the futaba servo you will be happy. Look in the classified for a tire truer. Tires for the car stick with crc you can't go wrong.

So I'm looking at tire truers. Probably taking the Hudy out of the mix based on price. I'm leaning Ofna for availability. Should I go with the manual or automatic version?
