I am a Serpent guy since 20 years and quality is awesome
I run both Nitro and EP 1/8th and comparing them is not that easy ; you can be a GP car fan and love the EP ; i just bought my 977e and my lap time are similar to the 966TE ones ; honestly , I still presently prefer the nitro one even if I struggle with my clutch ...
and I already over discharged one LIPO ....

Anybody interested in a 966E

See you on the track.
Hi Niels! Long time no see!
Yes it is impressive isn't it!
To see top speeds go to the old practice website of mylaps.

Out of curiosity Jeff what punch rate and timing settings are you finding work best with the GenII ?

@fab888, hi, i'm krys from france and i have a question about main chassis.
The main chassis is cut in part to fix allow bulkhead front and rear, have you re-cut a little holes in chassis to put bulkhead because on my chassis the bulkhead is not really in place in holes.
I ask to m.salven but no response about it.
You understand ? Because my english is bad

I have 15 punch rate and no timing and i find that its better with taller gearing like 18T pinion.
im using 1800kv sensorless. It has had plenty of runs now having no troubles.....i removed fan from motor as i found it unecessary after getting a chance to run on a warm day. its always battery temps and voltage im more concerned with....but those are fine too! even the 4000mah turnigy packs.

and KRYS06 no sorry i personally havent had any trouble fitting the bulkheads to chassis plate..both front and rear??..i cant think of any problem areas....Id suggest providing a photo

Cheers Jeff. I too am thinking of removing the motor fan as the my 2000kv motor has stayed cool after several back to back uses.

jeff thanks for reply, m.salven ask me today and he say it's not normal, me and my friend ordered two chassis kit last week and he has the same problem, i think the last production has a problem.
I must broaden machining chassis plate before build it and i don't like this...

That is how the recess that my front bulkheads slots into looks too. I have had no problem with it. Bulkhead screws in firmly with no alterations needed.

On my frame it was lacking 1mm reamind front and rear.
I try to locked screw at maximum and the bulkhead not go inside chassis plate correctly.

Hi. Don from Christchurch New Zealand
Just got my 977e and had first run last weekend
Wow what a machine. Raced with the gas cars, and was on the pace only 2sec behind
after 5 mins,
My car has a Hobbywing combo 2250 11.1v 14/48 pinion spur. Used 3000mah 0 timing
Have put a 17 pinion in for next run. Motor was 80deg. So will watch
Using the bigger batts as only ones I could get for good price 39mm thick, just removed the side batt holders and taped to car. Worked well. Would love to get the right size but hard to get and seen expensive

Default the Nosram Falcon 8 Brushless Speed-Control

I've come up with a major setup problem with my ESC,
the Nosram Falcon 8 Brushless Speed-Control & Fatboy 8 BL Motor (1600kV)to be used in my Serpent Viper 977e, the EP version 1/8th onroad car with 6S LiPo batteries.

I just follow and adjust what it says in the manual regarding the setups for over hundreds of times:
the connections are good,
the setup procedures are good,
and the mode programmings are good!

What surprised me most should be the fact that no matter which power profile I chose in MODE 3, the power feedbacks should be EXACTLY the same. That is to say, I have only one power profile in MODE 3. (* I have double-checked the stored values by couting the number of flashes of the blue SET-LED, and they have been proved to be stored accordingly with no doubt.)

So could anyone be kind to let me know if there should be anything wrong or anything should have been missing during th setups?

Looking forward to your quick response!

Thanx alot!

P.S.: the Nosram Falcon 8 Brushless Speed-Control is exactly the same version of LRP iX8, so if you should have the same issue with your LRP iX8, please share your threads BTW.

P.P.S.: I've emailed my question to Nosram for help weeks ago,and it seems that there's no customer service person available. This is the first and last time I try Nosram devices in my life.

I guess that 1600kV would be fairly mild and maybe wont notice the difference between power profiles?

Is the power delivery not to your liking? what are you trying to achieve by adjusting this?

Not sure if you guys know, there is a Swiss Company called PBR Concept that have a conversion kit to transform the 977 Viper (Nitro version!) into electric (and back again).

It lets you run the Tectrade electronics in the car

Check out the photos!

Just another option...
