Im thinking shaft. It fits better with their narrative about going against cirrent design. But if it is a belt, in order to keep with what they are saying, its going to have to be a crazy design. Motor up front, down the middle, on the right side, or have a center diff or something.
However, given HPI/HB recent history, if its not a shaft, it will tank. People want different, but they want that difference to be a shaft.

Shaft would be nice, can't wait to see photos.

If I was Mr HPI I'd dig out the Pro4, make a decent spool and gear-diff for it, replace the old plastic bulkheads with some modern alloy ones, call it a Pro5 and sell them by the shed-load to everyone that's bored of belt-drive TCs.
But HPI can't even keep springs and wishbones available, so there's little chance of them doing anything as sensible as that. I'm expecting some sort of monstrosity like the Pro3 instead With smooth flow!

Ive been saying for a while that an updated pro4 would be great. Lipo chassis, lower towers, and gear diffs are the big things.
Oh and update the internal ratio to something more appropriate for todays motors. Something closer to 2.0.
IMO one of the big flaws with the EVO6 is the 2.5 ratio. Guys having to get all crazy on pinion spure combos.

From what the people in the know are saying, it's a belt drive car, I'm hoping something different from the norm otherwise why bother changing the name too Pro 5

PRO 5? With the TCXX already out there, I hope the 5 is a shaft car. It would make sense, why put out another belt car? The 4 is the one we remember and love, I'd have to think they are creating an evolution of it. But that is *fingers crossed* ... They may play it safe and go belt, in which case I won't take any interest in the car TBH.
