Getting closer now, some wire cutting and soldering to do and waiting on a receiver then it should be good to go! Used a battery strap as I hate tape!

Does anyone know if this car is getting an update soon? ive ran my pro 5 for almost 2 seasons now. Looking around for a new car, but seems HB is at a stand still with a new touring car

Hi
It's not many months since Team Orion bought the HB part from HPI. Allready they got updated 1/8 offroad (and the WC) . Maybe write to Orion or Cord Tessmann , he is running the racing part of HB.

There is no update planned at this moment for the Pro5(direct from Tessman). The new owner has fixed all the supply issues but the focus at the moment is 1/8th scale and getting the 2wd more competitive. I wouldn't expect a Pro5 update anytime soon. Sad since it badly needs it for high bite tracks, mostly the dropped towers and shocks to reduce the cog.

Where did you end up getting the screw kit from, and about how much does it cost? I can't seem to find it anywhere that sells Hiro Seiko screws/parts. I know the general consensus seems to be that people wished/wanted this to have the purple parts, but orange just happens to be my favorite color so it works for me haha.

I just bought a Pro5 kit after being out of RC for ~6-7 years. I got started about 11-12 years ago with a used Pro4 (Hara Edition, with the old BMI chassis) then acquired a used Cyclone gen 1 (Surikarn Edition). I moved on to buy just a standard gen 1 black Cyclone base kit which I built up and raced for several years and loved it. I still have that car, but recently checking RC news and hearing about the Pro5 reinvigorated my interest to check out RC again. I found a brand new Pro5 kit at a ridiculous price I couldn't pass up, and I'm just now starting to build it. I've read through this thread entirely and have noted some of the option parts and other advice that others have recommended. Any recent advice from the field for an old school racer/present day noob would be greatly appreciated

One thing to note for me specifically is that, although I owned 3 previous HPI/HB cars and still own the Cyclone, I've accrued all kinds of spares over time and never sold them off because of the compatibility between those kits. I've got a ton of arms, knuckles, hubs, blocks, springs, etc etc. Any input on which, if any, of the parts from the Pro4/Cyclone will work (without lots of hassle) on the Pro5?

Looking forward to participating more in this thread, and I hope to see more chatter as the parts supply from HB Racing remains steady. I know I'll probably catch some flak for joining the game late with a car that has little support, but I've always liked the HPI family and this car seems to be the catalyst to getting me back into the scene.

Are the C hubs on the Pro 5 still grenading? I don't treat barriers with a great deal of respect.

If you have the silver striped soft Pro 5 c-hubs, you will be fine. They don't break. Parts to stock would be a set of arms, rear uprights and steering knuckles. Other than that, nothing really breaks on the car.

Hi guys

Just wondering how do you loosen the belts on the pro 5..? It looks to be a bit different to the TCXX.
I figured those spare plastic bearing covers that sit in the bulk head has something to do with it. Kit was 0, then there is 0-25 and 0-50... Is 0-50 the loosest setting? Which way does the cover sit in the bulk head though as its off center?

Thanks
