Its great to make it up to speedworld when I can. Out of those two motors I want your honest opinion out of the bag on being the best.

Ran my killshot for the first time yesterday. I have a 4.0 fdr and rand 25 degrees of timing. It seemed really slow but could've been my Esc setup since I'm a noob. I could basically run wot the full track and sort of plow/drift the car to scrub off speed. Should I add more timing?

small track. keep it at 4.0- 3.8 and bump up timing 5 degrees at a time, I would say 50 deg. final but i'd rather you creep up to max than overshooting it. Im assuming this is a tq killshot with stock 12.3 broad rotor. In TC I think the 12.5 tq rotor would be perfect for your track

its the 12.5

And how much of a difference would 25 degrees of timing be to 50? Would it be a huge amount difference, or minimal?

12.5 rotor? nice! start at 45 timing then. And creep up with FDR and timing. Good luck! killshot is a fast stock motor

night and day!

but it comes with heat! be carefull. . At the outdoor asphalt track I race at I'm very aggressive with FDR and timing on the motor with a good fan on the motor.

what are your motor temps now, with your 25 timing?

no idea, but the car was really slow. full throttle around the whole course using powersliding to scrub speed off. I know that no way to drive but it was my first time out with it. I did run it for easily 40 mins straight... but it was at 25 degrees only.... didn't seem to hot when I pulled it off.

whats a good fan kit? this one?

yeah racing tornado minimum, R1 Wurks Fan from Apex RC has been my go to for the past several races. When youre motor starts getting in the optimal range it will start touching 140F without Fan.

For me outdoors with Fan would be 170-180F. Without fan 200F way too hot hot this is on a 17.5 though.

Here is my chassis, what type of fan mount/ heat sink you think would work best?

I'm don't bother with fan mounts, I just shoe goo the fan to the chassis right behind the motor. Works great and saves weight. Another guy does this and fabricated a plastic shroud to direct the fan air onto the motor. I have the R1 8V fan - works great - I have one on both my VTA and USGT cars. With the wires going over the motor it may be difficult to get a heat sink on the motor. There are some that go over the motor with the fan mount in back of the motor that might work, but I don't need that with the shoe goo.

I'm going to dabble some in 17.5 blinky with my Kill Shot motor, so I'm interested in what you guys are saying about gearing and timing. PS My 17.5 has the RPM stator and the 12.5mm Torque rotor (that combo seems to work well with my 21.5 Kill Shots). I run on big outdoor asphalt tracks (150 170ft straights) with usually fairly open and flowing turns (although they seem to be making the tracks more and more tight the last few weekends).

BTW I asked one of our local hot shots and he said, max timing and 3.8 FDR for a good starting point in 17.5 blinky

My track is 170ft straight
Torque stator , 12.5 rpm rotor
50 timing
3.85 FDR
comes off about 150 every run

I'm running the High Torque "Maxilla" in 17.5 TC. Track is 100x60 roughly. Car is set up with a 3.6 FDR @ 50* Timing and comes off at about 158*F. Chassis has no fan and is run on asphalt
