Anyway, here are some pics of the build progress.

I like this front-end.

Any pictures yet on the next steps of the build ?

Bring the knuckle up till it touches the shims at the top then tighten the setscrew.

People are running the battery lengthwise instead of inline.

Finished the Lightning 10 quite a while back but never did a body for it as I had no where to run it. Have been going to a track down in Dallas and they run WGT so I am going to get to take it out for a spin. Got the body done.

I'm trying to get this thing dialed in on the bench... but will see how it does on track in a couple of weeks.

You'll like it. Ask v_squared what his setup is.

I think I'm going to hang on to them... thanks though. And yeah, I like VBC stuff too - have the Lightning 10, a Lightning FX, 2 Lightning 12M's, and a FF Twelve (FWD car) and just ordered the FF17 (their new FWD'er) yesterday!!

And I'm waiting on Alex Pate (GripworksRC) to get back with me, he is getting me one of the D08 Dynamics Edition as well, so when he gets that in I'll have a new sedan coming. Hahaha!! VBC is my new Tamiya.

One of the 12M's is set-up with the CF chassis and the other has the aluminum chassis and pod. I really like the look of all the VBC stuff - like the colors they do for anodizing and such, the black, red, and darker silver - looks like stuff "from the dark side"!

btw, really enjoying your old Tamiya 501 - I love that thing!!

Take care man,
Barry

Got gear in the car and ready for some track time. I'm running 4.5mm ride height in the rear and right at 4mm in the front... track rules say you have to have 4mm minimum.

Anyway, I set the chassis up where I can run either transverse or in-line battery configuration. In-line is the way the chassis is suppose to run the battery.

One more $$ shot.

Splurged for a new push-can for this ride...

Standard battery set-up:

The way I'm gonna try it.

Thanks for looking, and really jones'n to run this thing!!

Ran the car Saturday night and had a really good time... I had my gearing completely wrong and never messed with the timing on the motor. There was 7 of us and I finished 4-3-4 in the three heats and then finished last in the main.

I went completely the wrong direction with gearing, and lost what little speed I had - I was running USGT, 1/12 scale, and WGT-R - so, running three classes (which I had never done before) kept me hopping and just trying to make sure I had charged the batteries and sauced the tires.

I was very impressed with this car, handles beautifully. Didn't break anything and once I put soft front springs on the car was handling great. I went to order another off the VBC Racing site - but the Lightning10 isn't on there anymore. I sure hope they continue to support this chassis, I love it.

Default Rubber tire mounting

When mounting rubber tires, are parts being replaced to get things down to 5mm
