Default Is the NOVAK XRS any good?

Being fairly new to RC on road cars I wanted to get a bit of information from those in the know regarding the Novak XRS ESC.

I have a Tamiya TA05 and I assume the ESC is better than the teu-101bk but what is the difference?

Also, can the reverse function be turned off?

Hope you guys/gals can help.

Check this link. This describes the features of that speedo. As far as it being any good. I'm sure that it is, I believe that it is the same one that Team Losi is now using in their RTR cars.

Thanks for the input! I wanted to know the same thing. I just had one of those OEM Futaba MC330CR ESCs burn out on me as well - about 10 mins after my brother's exact same ESC burned out on him! This after no more than 10 battery packs over the span of a month!

Can the ABS setting on the transmitter contribute to an ESC burning out?

I burnt out one of those with a 17 turn motor. The XRS has a 15 turn limit. So much for that! I was only running around 6 degrees of timing too.

The OEM MC330CR was supposed to be rated down to 13T. I was only using a P2K2 Pro. I'm thinking it may be because when you drift, you feather the throttle alot. This was probably putting alot of strain on the ESC and the heatsink on it isn't that great.

If not the Novak XRS, then which reversible ESC of reliable and doesn't run too hot?

The Novak Rooster and Super Rooster are good. The Super Rooster has no turn limit, and can handle high power applications like a dual motor ClodBuster Project.
