I just got a couple of schottky diodes and they aren't the conventional barrel type with the silver stripe. Instead it's a square shape with no stripe but the following mark on it:

-l<-

Does that mean that the left (ie, the direction the arrow points to) is the side that goes towards the positive?

I'd appreciate any advice if anyone knows.

I'm not 100% sure, but i'd say that the arrow points in the direction of the curcuit, so the arrow is pointing from positive to negative

beer drinker is right its pointing from positive to negitive so hook ur +on ur motor to the arrow side
