And please don't get rid of single car qualifying. It's the most fun single minute of any race most of us go to all year long. And the no Marshall's make it interesting, how fast can you go without risking a crash (and a certain trip to the back)
So if you run "sportsman" you don't get points? But if the same "sportsman" guys showed up at a different track on the same day they would get points?

Ummm... Ok I get it....kinda

Is this for the triple crown points or the usvta national points?

Is there going to be a host hotel or should we just plan on finding our own places to stay?

It prevents sandbagging for points....... It's that simple.

I was referring to the national points, basing my information off of this post in the usvta national thread by Kevin

http://www.rctech.net/forum/13468131-post142.html

But I was presume that would go for the triple crown as well, since Both harbor and ft Wayne would have to run a sportsman class for thereto be a triple crown for that class. Since neither has confirmed they are yet, I would assume that to be the case.

Bottom line, if you are at all worried about either of the point championships, you should be racing in pro VTA.

Guys we dont look we will have a host hotel this year. Our regular host went up from $49 to $54 to now asking $74 a night....

Sorry for the inconvenience. ...I will continue to check around this evening and report back...

Re: USVTA national points, Pro vs. Sportsman

Have the powers that be considered "grouping" the two classes for points purposes? Something like this: Say there were 20 in each class for demonstration purposes:

Pro:

1st
2nd
.
.
.
20th

Sportsman

1st = 21st points
2nd = 22nd points
.
.
.
20th = 40th place points.

This way, the best Sportsman USVTA could do is no better than the last place Pro USVTA finisher.
Then at least those of us who are truly Sportsman racers would get SOME USVTA points for participating.

Just a thought,

Mark

Myron - what is the name of the hotel that was the host hotel last year? $74/night isn't too bad, especially if its close to the track

I believe it was the Sleep Inn on Dickerson Pike. Choice Hotels website shows it for $65/night if you join Choice Privileges (free) and do the advanced purchase.

I would HIGHLY advise to not stay anywhere within a 3-5 mile radius of the track. The area I would recommend is Rivergate Mall or Goodletsville area. Its about 10-12 minutes from the track and is a MUCH MUCH nicer area and less chance for anyone knocking on your door at 3AM asking if you need some "company"!!!

For those looking for a hotel deal, i booked my room at the super 8 by the airport on booking.com. If i remember correct it was around $60 a night and had some really good reviews. Google maps says its about a 15 min drive to the track. Hope this is helpful.
